Three Steps of Responsibility

God’s Word: Romans 13:1-7  (The Message)

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

As a citizen of a country you have responsibilities.   stepping stonesAll governments are under my authority.  When there is peace and order–it is My order.  Governments out of control have stepped outside of My boundaries of order and chaos results.  Do all in your power to help uphold the laws of the government.  Duly constituted authorities are only a threat if you’re trying to get by with something.  Decent citizens should have nothing to fear.  Thus the first step of responsibility as a citizen is “pay your taxes.”  If you are irresponsible with the government, then you are irresponsible with Me, and I will hold you responsible.

Your second step of responsibility is to “pay your bills.”  This responsibility includes “living within your means.”  If your “means” don’t match your needs, then discover honest and creative ways to increase your “means.”  You are responsible to care for your own needs.  When you are honestly unable then I will intervene and help you with this obstacle.  But when the reason you can’t pay your bills is you created too many—that is your responsibility.  When irresponsible you must suffer the consequences.  Pay your bills—but better yet do not spend money you don’t have.

The third step of responsibility is to “respect your leaders.”  To be on good terms with the government be a responsible citizen.  Remember that I take your treatment of all personally.  Showing disrespect for governing authorities is to disrespect Me.  Disrespect for government is because of dishonesty in reporting—gossip.  When you pass on that gossip you are disrespecting authority—including Mine.

God’s Question: Are you living a “responsible” lifestyle?

God’s Promise: I help honest governments keep order.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for designing governments for our protection.

I am Sorry I don’t get more involved and instead gossip.

Thank You for reminding us of our responsibilities.

Please Help Me take my responsibilities very seriously.
