What Shape Are Your In?

7 Dec

God’s WordPsalms 119:41-48shape-of-love

God’s Attribute: Love that shapes our lives

God’s Message to me:

Have you stopped to consider how your love shapes other lives?  The amount of love, forgiveness, compassion and kindness you give others shapes their very being.  In the same way, the extent to which you respond to My love and forgiveness, compassion and kindness, shapes your very being.  You cannot give what you do not possess.  Accept from Me and then pass on to others.  My love and attributes can flow through your life, into the lives of others.  Oh, how hungry the world is for My love, forgiveness, compassion and kindness.  But unless they see it reflected in you—they may miss it altogether.

Guard what I have entrusted to you.  Use the words of counsel you read from My Word to shape your life and shape how you relate to others.  My truth and wisdom do not flow into your life by osmosis—you must search them out and then live them out in the school of hard knocks.  Do you deserve My love and forgiveness?  What could you ever do to deserve the sacrifice that was given on your behalf—the death of Christ?  Then why do you think others should be deserving of your love and forgiveness.

To fully benefit from My gift of love and forgiveness, you must allow it to shape your thoughts and be extended to all others—regardless of whether they deserve it or not.  Regardless of whether they accept you or not—you be My hands, feet and mouth that conveys My love for your world.

God’s Question for me

How has My love shaped the way you relate to others in your life?

God’s Promise to me

My love shapes your life so you can shape other lives on My behalf.

My Prayer to Emulate God’s Attributes:  I Pledge:

My mind: To focus on forgiveness instead of retribution.

My voice:  To be an encourager of others by ready forgiveness.

My heart:  To express my appreciation of your love by loving others.

My body:  To serve others in appreciation for Your forgiveness of me.

Miracle Mercies

27 Sep

God’s WordPsalms 107

God’s Attribute: God’s “miracle mercy” provides food and drink, releases from prison, heals the sick, leads to a safe harbor, gives prosperity in a wasteland. keep-calm

God’s Message to me:

The very food you eat is a miracle full of vitamins and minerals that your body needs to survive.  You imprison yourself to so many “things” but my miracle mercy will set you free.  How many times have you been so sick you thought you would die?  My miracle mercy restored you to health.  When you feel you are floundering in the wild sea of life, my miracle mercy leads you to a safe harbor.  Even in a wasteland of missed opportunities, I will provide you with prosperity.

Do you fret over what you don’t have?  Instead, rejoice over what you have.  Have you seen people paralyzed or restricted in some way, with a thankful attitude?  My miracle mercies are always available, to stand in the gap for you.  Please don’t worry over those things you have no control over.  Remember, my miracle mercies are sheltering you.  Turn to me in your need and those mercies will wash over your heart and mind and give you the peace you need.  Yes, peace, in the midst of the turmoil is what you need and that is what my miracle mercy provides.

Rest in this my friend—you are never alone—I am always present with you and am eager for you to reach out for my miracle mercy that provides, releases, heals, leads and gives.

God’s Question for me

Will you decide to spend more time rejoicing in over what I have provided for you rather than fretting over what you don’t have?

God’s Promise to me

My mercies are new every morning—there will never be a shortage of my miracle mercies.

My Prayer to Emulate God’s Attributes:  I Pledge:

My mind: To focus on thankfulness—not worry over anything.

My voice:  To always look for the good and expose it to others.

My heart:  To rejoice in what You have done, are doing, and will do.

My body:  To serve others as unto You—and give my all.

For Whose Sake Do You Pray?

12 May

God’s Word: Psalms 54

God’s Attribute: (verse 4)  Oh, look! God’s right here helping!  God’s on my side.Prayer1

God’s message to me:

Did you notice the words in the first verse of this chapter–GOD, FOR YOUR SAKE, HELP ME!  I don’t hear many prayers addressed to Me in that manner.  Mankind mostly prays for their own sake, to save their own necks—instead of thinking how their situation can bring Me honor.  Those who live their lives FOR MY SAKE get My attention!  Folks often think that means to live for Me their life will be easy.

This world has many challenges for the purpose of making you strong so that you can  help others.  Your strength comes from Me and your light shines and lights the way for others to come to Me.  When prayer moves to the level of people asking FOR MY SAKE, then I know they have come through the battle and are stronger for it.  I am glorified when you shine My light through the struggles of your life.

In the midst of life’s storms I AM RIGHT THERE.  I am on your side! My presence with your spirit will give you peace and contentment in the midst of the storm.  Oh that mankind would take to heart–Romans 15:1 (The Message) Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us.

God’s question for me: How often do you pray FOR MY SAKE?

God’s promise to me:  2 Corin 12:7  My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness.

My prayer to God:

  1. Adoration: Oh the glory of Your Presence!  How wonderful to know that your strength comes through my weaknesses.
  2. Confession: I am so easily side tracked and subconsciously seek to honor myself instead of you.
  3. Thanksgiving: I am so grateful to know You and to be reminded of how I must pray FOR YOUR SAKE.
  4. Supplication: Help our family to live more fully FOR YOUR SAKE and let Your strength be shown in our weaknesses.

Respond with a Smile

God’s Word: Ephesians 6  (The Message)

God’s Message to Me: (My interpretation of what God is saying through these verses)2013-10-15 Connie and 2

Who has authority over you—a boss, co-worker, professor, teacher, doctor, parent, law enforcement, government, or perhaps a care-giver?  I am aware that the one in authority can use their position unfairly. I want to help you deal with those times—here is my advice: respond respectfully as though you were responding to Me.  Never just do what you are required to do to “get by,” but put your heart into your work, following Christ’s example, doing your best as though it were Me calling the shots.  On top of that—do your work with a smile on your face because you know that I accept your service as done unto Me.

Everyone has a role to play.  The one in authority also has one in authority above them that may be dealing unfairly with them too.  You may be the end of the line where the frustration is taken out.  Don’t simply cower and submit—your role is to keep that smile on your face and do your work to the best of your ability as though it were Me you were trying to please.

Never fear—I have not left you without resources to deal with unfairness that is dealt you.  My Word is your indispensable weapon to combat the rebellion you feel.  Draw freely of My truth, righteousness, peace, faith and salvation.  Prayer is essential to helping you glean strength from My Word to keep that smile on your face and putting your heart into your work.  Never waste a moment of your precious life fretting over the things you can’t change.  Don’t let them be a drain on your health by harboring resentments.  Just hand it over to Me, draw freely from My strength—and put a smile on your face.

God’s Question for Me:

Are you using My Word and prayer to combat the unfair way those in authority over you are treating you?

God’s Promise to Me:

Draw near to Me and I will draw near to you.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for this simple reminder to do my work as unto You.

I am Sorry I don’t use this advice of Yours more frequently.

Thank You for Your timeless word that never grows outdated.

Please Help Me smile through whatever tough times lie ahead.

Secure Future Ahead

Proverbs 24:13-14steps

“Eat honey, dear child—it’s good for you—and delicacies that melt in your mouth.  Likewise knowledge, and wisdom for your soul, get that and your future’s secured, your hope is on solid rock.”

Too much of a good thing can result in disaster.  A few sweets are a delight but too many and we destroy our health—our future.  If we are drawn to knowledge as we are to sweets our future is secured.  Knowledge in the path to wisdom!  No knowledge—no wisdom.  Know knowledge—know wisdom.

God gave us all a passion to pursue knowledge in some area.  As we follow this God-given path His wisdom leads us to make wise choices.  Wisdom secures our future—both on this earth and for all eternity.  We are where we are today because of our choices yesterday.  Eat too many sweets and we destroy our health.  Ignore knowledge and we destroy our future.

What does a secure future look like?  Built upon the foundation of accumulated knowledge, the result is wise choices. It is enhanced as we learn to be content with what we have and live within our means.  It is expanded as we put into practice God’s directive of loving others as though it were Him. As we give of ourselves in service to others we find God’s highest blessing is ours.  The result is a security like no amount of money can buy!

God’s Question: What steps are you taking to secure your future?

God’s Promise: A secure future eternally for those who wisely live this life doing for others as unto Me.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You for the simplicity of living for You.

I am sorry I too often think more about self than others (You).

Thank You for daily reminders to be about Your business.

Help me make wise choices about how I invest my time.

Make the World a Better Place

Sterling Principle # 22

Proverbs 24:7Common-Sense

Wise conversation is way over the head of fools; in a serious discussion they haven’t a clue.

Ever had a job interview?  We usually “dress for success” and practice all our best manners for the big day.  That’s all important, but the employer is looking for someone with common sense and the words that come out of our mouths determine his decision. If common sense was more common our world would be a better place.

Just what is common sense?  One writer said it is the mental ability to cope with the challenges and opportunities of life. Lack of common sense causes us to make errors in judgment that most reasonable people would never make.  That is why many job interviews ask questions to see what kind on judgment we have. We may have a world of “education” but not be able to function with common sense in everyday decisions.

Can our common sense be improved?  Its foundation is based upon our life experiences, our parents and others example, and our accumulated knowledge.  It is strongly influenced by the moral compass we’re raised with and choose to live by.  These 30 sterling principles from Proverbs are training in common sense living.  God, our creator and sustainer, gifted us with the Bible to be our guide for successful living in society.  Familiarity with the Bible is training in wisdom with which common sense flourishes.

God’s Question: Do you need a little help in common sense?

God’s Promise: My Words give wisdom for life.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You for Your wisdom that so blesses my life.

I am sorry I too often ignore Your wisdom and act foolish.

Thank You for responding to my requests for wisdom.

Help me so live that others will see You in my life-choices.

Magnify Success

21 Oct

Sterling Principle # 21

Proverbs 24:5-6magnify success

It is better to be wise than strong; intelligence outranks muscle any day.  Strategic planning is the key to warfare; to win, you need a lot of good counsel.

Physical strength can only take you so far.  It might look good on the body but without intelligence it is worthless.  Consider the CEO’s at the gym—their strength is in intelligence—not muscle.  They spend their time discovering new ways to lure folks into believing that a strong body is the key to success.  And they have done a great job of convincing millions.

True, healthy bodies are enhanced by regular work-outs.  Beware that all our energies aren’t devoted to body development rather than seeking wisdom.  A strong, good-looking body might help us land a job but it won’t take long for them to find out the strength is absent in the mind.  Balance is the key in all areas of life.

We humans need each other to help us balance our lives.  A key to the road of success is the counsel of others. We must choose carefully our counselors. The best counselor of all is God and He has provided us with a guide-book to help us be our best and do our best.  He is on our side!  To ignore His help we negate our best selves. His Word does not hinder our success but magnifies it.  Counselors who reject God’s advice are to be avoided for their source of wisdom does not have a firm foundation.  Better to get our advice from a God who loves us than a counselor who is after our money.

God’s Question: Will you let Me help you on the road to success?

God’s Promise: I created you with talents and abilities that your world needs.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You for Your wisdom You are so eager to share.

I am sorry we too often ignore Your best advice.

Thank You for Your patience with our faults.

Help me follow Your leading and choose wisely.
