Sterling Principle # 21
It is better to be wise than strong; intelligence outranks muscle any day. Strategic planning is the key to warfare; to win, you need a lot of good counsel.
Physical strength can only take you so far. It might look good on the body but without intelligence it is worthless. Consider the CEO’s at the gym—their strength is in intelligence—not muscle. They spend their time discovering new ways to lure folks into believing that a strong body is the key to success. And they have done a great job of convincing millions.
True, healthy bodies are enhanced by regular work-outs. Beware that all our energies aren’t devoted to body development rather than seeking wisdom. A strong, good-looking body might help us land a job but it won’t take long for them to find out the strength is absent in the mind. Balance is the key in all areas of life.
We humans need each other to help us balance our lives. A key to the road of success is the counsel of others. We must choose carefully our counselors. The best counselor of all is God and He has provided us with a guide-book to help us be our best and do our best. He is on our side! To ignore His help we negate our best selves. His Word does not hinder our success but magnifies it. Counselors who reject God’s advice are to be avoided for their source of wisdom does not have a firm foundation. Better to get our advice from a God who loves us than a counselor who is after our money.
God’s Question: Will you let Me help you on the road to success?
God’s Promise: I created you with talents and abilities that your world needs.
My Prayer to God:
I praise You for Your wisdom You are so eager to share.
I am sorry we too often ignore Your best advice.
Thank You for Your patience with our faults.
Help me follow Your leading and choose wisely.
