#9 Foolish Fools

12 Sep

God’s Word:  Proverbs 23:9

God’s Message to Me:

“Don’t bother talking sense to fools; they’ll only poke fun at your words.”  A fool is one who will not listen when being taught, will not learn and will not appreciate the value of learning.  The fool will not admit their wrong, is self-centered, unteachable, conceited, seldom holds a job, and is a leach on society.

How to tell the difference between a wise person and a fool?  The fool refuses to learn from the wise person but the wise person learns from the fool.  The fool scorns the wisdom of the wise. The wise see the foolishness of the fool and sees the uselessness of their life and ways.  The wise person grows wiser from contact with the fool and the foolish grows more foolish by contact with the wise.

Learn to recognize a fool and use wisdom in dealing with them.  Do your best to help them abandon their foolish ways.  But do not beat yourself up because you are unable to help them make changes.  Instead, focus your attention on helping those who are teachable and can rise above their circumstances.

God’s Question to Me:  Will you examine your own life and choices and take steps to avoid foolish choices.

God’s Promise to Me:   As you sow—so shall you reap!  Foolishness or wisdom—the choice is yours.

My Song to God:    The Wise and Foolish Builders

The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
But the house on the Rock stood firm.

The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
And the house on the sand fell flat.

So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
And the blessings will come down.
The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
So build your life on the Lord.
