# 23 What’s Cooking?

God’s Word:  Proverbs 24:8,9,

God’s Message to Me:

The thoughts you invite into your mind determine your actions.  Your future is determined by the thoughts you have “stewing.” Consider those sitting in prison!  They are there because of the thoughts they allowed to “stew” in their mind.  You are the “cook” and determine the thoughts you allow to be cooked up in your mind.

My recipe for the mind assures you of healthy thoughts.  (Philippians 4:8 Keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.)  Let this recipe be always simmering in your mind and it will crowd out perverse thinking.

Don’t allow yourself to borrow sorrow from tomorrow.  I have done you a great favor in not allowing you to know the future.  Do not waste a moment of your life “stewing” over what may or may not happen tomorrow.  When you are tempted to worry—consider that as My call to prayer.  Tell you your worries then leave them with Me.

God’s Question to Me:  Will you focus on those thoughts that are true, pure, holy in order to crowd out any evil thoughts that may try to enter?

God’s Promise to Me:   I give you freedom to choose your thoughts but with that freedom comes the responsibility of paying the consequences.

My Song to God:  Why Worry When You Can Pray   John Peterson

Why worry, when you can pray?
Trust Jesus, He’ll be your stay.
Don’t be a doubting Thomas,
Rest fully on His promise,
Why worry, worry, worry, worry when you can pray?
