God’s Word: Romans 12: 9-21 (The Message)
God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)
Here it is—are you listening—PRACTICE PLAYING SECOND FIDDLE. Yes, you heard Me right! Make it your life’s goal to boost others to the top. In helping others be successful in their gifted areas it is automatic that you will be a smashing success. You see, life at its best is when you are helping others become their best. So love others from the center of who you are; don’t fake it to promote your own agenda. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply—yes, practice playing second fiddle.
Most people practice in order to better themselves—to become top fiddler. But that achievement is the key to burnout. You keep yourself fueled and flamed by helping others instead of stepping over them to reach the top yourself. In serving others you are serving Me so be cheerfully expectant and inventive in your service. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Do you have enemies? Be a blessing to them—no cursing under your breath. Don’t insist on getting even; that’s not for you to do. Let Me be the judge. I’ll take care of it.
You be there to boost others up. When your friends are happy–laugh with them. When they are down–share their tears. With every fiber of your being get along with everyone; don’t be stuck up. Go out of your way to make friends with nobodies; don’t toot your own horn so you can be the great somebody. Set the mad scramble to be top dog behind and let your scrambling be on behalf of others. Don’t let evil greed get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good for others. The secret to success is really no secret. Instead, it is simply ignored. So take My advice–practice playing second fiddle as the best possible path to success. You are successful when you help others be successful!
God’s Question: Who will you encourage and uplift today?
God’s Promise: You’ll never burn out lighting others flame!
My Prayer to God:
I Praise You for all those who have helped me.
I am Sorry I too often focus on self instead of others.
Thank You for reminding me of the path to success.
Please Help Me be there for others and encourage them.
