God’s Word:  Proverbs 27:1-16

God’s Message to Me:

Don’t brashly announce what you’re gong to do tomorrow; you don’t know the first thing about tomorrow.  No one knows what their future holds or when it will end.  Make your plans for tomorrow but put your best foot forward today.  Give the present moment your best self.  All you really have is the very moment.

Don’t put off doing good for others until tomorrow.  Many live with good intentions that they never act upon.  Act today—come what may—for tomorrow is out of your reach!  Your good deeds need not be earth shattering but simple acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or deeds of sharing your time.  Every person on earth has needs and you are the answer to someone’s prayer for help.  Look around you!

Ask Me for wisdom then proceed with your plans—today.  Live each day as though this was all you had.  Keep your house in order—your payments current—your best foot forward—and your kind words on the tip of your tongue.  Not only will you be a blessing to others but you will receive blessing in return.  Blessings received by doing good for others are far sweeter than being the recipient of someone else’s good deeds.  Why?  Because doing good for another sweetens your own soul.

God’s Question to Me:  What are you planning to do tomorrow that you need to get started on today?

God’s Promise to Me:   I will give wisdom to the one who asks and uses it to bless the life of another.

My Song to God:     I Don’t Know About Tomorrow    by Iran Forest Stanphill

I don’t know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
I don’t borrow from it’s sunshine,
For it’s skies may turn to gray.
I don’t worry o’er the future,
For I know what Jesus said,
And today I’ll walk beside Him,
For He knows what is ahead.

Many things about tomorrow,
I don’t seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.

Ev’ry step is getting brighter,
As the golden stairs I climb;
Ev’ry burden’s getting lighter;
Ev’ry cloud is silver lined.
There the sun is always shining,
There no tear will dim the eyes,
At the ending of the rainbow,
Where the mountains touch the sky.

Many things about tomorrow,
I don’t seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.

I don’t know about tomorrow,
It may bring me poverty;
But the One Who feeds the sparrow,
Is the One Who stands by me.
And the path that be my portion,
May be through the flame or flood,
But His presence goes before me,
And I’m covered with His blood.

Many things about tomorrow,
I don’t seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.
