Fruit of the Lips

God’s Word: Matthew 12:22-27

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

If you grow a healthy tree, you’ll pick healthy fruit.  Fruit of the lipsIf you grow a diseased tree, you’ll pick worm-eaten fruit.  The fruit tells you about the tree.  Your mind is likened to a tree. You determine what goes in and what goes in determines what comes out.  The care you take in what you allow into your mind determines the “fruit of your lips.”

Foul minded—foul mouthed!  Only you can change the health of your mind and produce better “fruit of the lips.”  A foul-minded–foul-mouthed person is a “blight” on their own personal tree of life.  Not only that but they spread their “blight” to everyone who is close enough to experience the “fruit of their lips.”

How does one rid their life of this “blight?”  It takes a change of heart to create a change of mind.  It’s your heart, not the dictionary that gives meaning to your words.  A person who takes steps to purify their heart produces good deeds and words, season after season.  An evil-minded person is a “blight” on the orchard of life.  Christ came to the earth to help mankind overcome the “blight” that degenerates a society.  He set the example and knowing you would be unable to faithfully follow in His steps, he willingly died to pay the price for that “blight” that so easily springs up.  Accept Christ and My Holy Spirit dwells within your heart to help you make better choices that will produce the “fruit of the lips” that will bless and nourish the world.

God’s Question: Look at your life—what kind of  fruit are you producing?

God’s Promise: Those who accept Christ will receive My indwelling presence to give you a fruitful life.

My Prayer to God

I praise You for Your Spirit that so richly blesses my life.

I am sorry for overriding your leading too often.

Thank You for not giving up on me.

Help me feed on Your teachings so the “fruit of my lips” will honor You and not be a “blight” on others.
