Vomit of the Heart

God’s Word: Matthew 15: 1-20 God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses) Ritual is simply going through the motions thinking that shows the health of the heart.  Not so!  Heart health is demonstrated by the words that come from the mouth.  Unless the words you speak and the actions you perform confirm and agree with the ritual of your life—your ritual is meaningless and void.  Anyone can follow a ritual.  But the health of the heart is never determined by ritual.  Its true health is shown by your actions and your words… The … Continue reading Vomit of the Heart

Open the Eyes of Your Heart

God’s Word: Matthew 14: 22-36 God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses) Prayer is the preamble to power.  After feeding the 5000, Jesus sent His disciples off in a boat while He climbed the mountain to be alone to pray.  He stayed there alone, with Me, late into the night.  Few people grasp the power of prayer—spending focused time in communication with Me.  Prayer is communication—not a one way street.  As you pour out your heart in prayer, I am there with you, giving you guidance and comfort—if you will open the eyes … Continue reading Open the Eyes of Your Heart

Good Pity

God’s Word: Matthew 14:13-21 God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses) What are the needs in your little corner of the world?  What are you doing to meet those needs?  I send you into your world to reach out to people in their needs and share My love and care for them.  My message of salvation begins with the basic needs of humanity.  Who do you pity?  Let your pity motivate you to do something helpful.  That is Jesus love—love in action. The crowds of people were so caught up in the message … Continue reading Good Pity

The Ultimate Price

God’s Word: Matthew 14:1-12 God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses) When I created humanity with a free-will, I knew there would be drastic consequences.  I could have easily created humanity as robots to do My will only.  Animals follow the inner compass I gave them.  They give Me much pleasure.  But My pleasure is magnified when humanity chooses My path rather than the path of self-appeasement.  My Spirit dwells within the spirit of those who choose Me. In this passage John, called the baptizer, chose My path.  Having My Spirit indwell him … Continue reading The Ultimate Price

The Curtain of History

God’s Word: Matthew 13: 36-58 God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses) If you are reading this the window of opportunity is now open in your life.  But realize that all of history has a curtain that can close at any moment. I created you with talents and abilities and gave you a heaping dose of passion to pursue your natural bent. All around you are a multitude of opportunities to be a contributing member of your society by meeting others needs with your abilities.  You were created to find your joy in … Continue reading The Curtain of History

The Thistles Remain

God’s Word: Matthew 13:24-35 God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses) Some plant—some harvest.  Be careful what you plant in your heart for from that planting the harvest will come—be it good or ill.  For every good seed you plant, there are deceivers scattering their weed seeds far and wide—through many different means.  What is it that is influencing your planting?  Whatever you allow into your heart through the senses, affects the harvest.  What are you watching, listening to, touching, tasting, or smelling.  These are the areas through which temptations enter your heart … Continue reading The Thistles Remain

The Value of Stories

God’s Word: Matthew 13:1-23 God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses) Nearly everyone enjoys a good story.  A story grabs your attention and is memorable.  Recall the story—recall the take-away.  Jesus told many stories that had great take-away value.  In the story in this passage He tells about the four kinds of listeners. In one ear—out the other Listens enthusiastically—forgets quickly Too preoccupied to even comprehend the story Listens intently—applies the teaching The value of story-telling is to create readiness, to nudge the people toward receptive insight.  The story draws a picture in … Continue reading The Value of Stories

God’s Super Hero

God’s Word: Matthew 12:38-50 God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses) The religious scholars of Jesus day asked him for his credentials.  They expected him to perform another miracle to “prove” Himself as having super powers.  He had already done many miracles by this point and they were well aware of His super powers and it drove them crazy.  These scholars were used to the people looking to them for all their spiritual guidance.  “This Jesus,” they thought was turning the heard of their “followers” away from them and toward Him.  So they … Continue reading God’s Super Hero

Fruit of the Lips

God’s Word: Matthew 12:22-27 God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses) If you grow a healthy tree, you’ll pick healthy fruit.  If you grow a diseased tree, you’ll pick worm-eaten fruit.  The fruit tells you about the tree.  Your mind is likened to a tree. You determine what goes in and what goes in determines what comes out.  The care you take in what you allow into your mind determines the “fruit of your lips.” Foul minded—foul mouthed!  Only you can change the health of your mind and produce better “fruit of the … Continue reading Fruit of the Lips

Shine–Don’t Spotlight

God’s Word: Matthew 12:15-21 God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses) Jesus, knowing they were out to get Him, moved on.  Let your light of love shine so brightly that the world must stand up and take notice.  But, just like Jesus, there are many who would choose the darkness rather than His light.  My best advice is–spread the light around.  Don’t overwhelm people with your light.  Shine, but don’t spotlight them.  If they are drawn to the light—great–if not, keep shining but move on. The light of My love shines to bring … Continue reading Shine–Don’t Spotlight
