Promises that Rejuvenate

8 Dec

God’s WordPsalms 119:49-56promise

God’s Attribute: God’s promises rejuvenate us

God’s Message to me:

My Word is so much more than an accurate history and prophecy book—it is My Book of promises.  My promises could be likened to a legally binding declaration that gives you (the reader) a right to expect or to claim the performance or withholding of a specified act.  As I said to Joshua, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” I say that to all who seek to follow My words of wisdom.  I do not change My mind.  You can count on My promises and I hope that rejuvenates you!

Those who say “my word is my bond” are saying that you can expect them to do what they say—without fail.  I too can say MY WORD IS MY BOND.  How are you doing at living out your word?  Can others depend upon you to do what you say?  Countless numbers of people make promises to Me and then fail to carry them out.  A vow is a promise to Me.  Be careful that you do not fail to carry out your vows.

Promises rejuvenate when you have confidence in the promise giver.  Please know for certain that My promises will never fail to be fulfilled.  So, live that others can be rejuvenated by your promises.  They will when they can so trust you that they know you will keep your word.  What a legacy you leave when you are a promise keeper.

God’s Question for me

As you know you can trust My promises are others as assured that you will keep your promises?

God’s Promise to me:

My Word will never fail.

My Prayer to Emulate God’s Attributes:  I Pledge:

My mind: To connect my thoughts to Your Word and live them out.

My voice:  To always fulfill what I say I will do.

My heart:  To love all others with Your sacrificial love.

My body:  To serve others as though I were serving You.

God’s Word: Acts 5:1-11

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Give what you give and keep what you keep—but don’t lie about it.  deceptionThere is a fine line between complete honesty and deception.  What you say might be honest—but what you don’t say shows the deception.  In this passage a couple sold a piece of property, in order to share with others.  They decided to keep a portion for themselves but when they went to give the rest to the Apostles, to use for the poor, they said “here is the money we received from the sale of our property.”  They wanted the praise for giving all the money from their sale.  Peter, using My guidance, knew the amount wasn’t the full amount and that their pride was showing.  To show how important it is to be honest with God, both the man and his wife fell down dead.  Do not trifle with God.

The man and wife were completely free to give or keep as much of the money as they chose.   It was their property and their money.  But lying to God, for the sake of pride, is such a travesty I could not allow this to slip under the wire unnoticed.  Now I certainly don’t go around striking everyone dead who tells a lie.  If I did, the world would be very sparsely populated.  The example in this passage is to show my definition of honesty and humility—and to call you to step up to My level of complete honesty.

Complete honesty is a high calling and few there are who answer My call.  Children must be taught the importance of such honesty from a very early age.  The consequences of not being truthful should be memorable so they will not want to repeat the dishonesty.  If it is allowed to begin it childhood it will be continued throughout life.  When pride raises its head—dishonesty is not far behind.  Nip it in the bud when children are young and you will do them a lifetime favor.

God’s Question: Any buds of dishonesty you need to nip off yourself?

God’s Promise: To lie to another is to lie to me!

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Your teaching about these things that really matter.

I am Sorry I have allowed pride to creep into my life.

Thank You for helping me recognize pride as sin.

Please Help Me honor You by being totally honest.

The Honest Trail

12 Oct

God’s Word:  Proverb s 24:23-34

God’s Message to Me:

It is wrong, very wrong, to go along with injustice.  To hide the truth is  an outright lie.  One little lie seems innocent enough but it is like one little spot of cancer that will grow to choke out the life of the person. To allow yourself to lie, by hiding the truth, you invite the cancer of dishonesty to enter your heart.  The end will always be disaster.

What kind of trail are you leaving for future generations to follow?  Honesty is a family value to pass on to your descendants.  What stories will be told about you after you are gone?  Will your honest endeavors stand out or will your failures at honesty be remembered more?

The trail you leave behind will affect your descendants for generations.  As you make every decision, consider how this will affect your family line.  One man left behind the nickname of “Honest Abe.”  What a legacy to leave behind.  Every decision, every word, is creating the trail of your life.  Choose honesty to pass on to future generations!

God’s Question to Me:  Are you looking at your life from the bigger picture as you being a chain in the link of life?  Are you making an effort to leave a strong and honest link for your loved ones to follow?

God’s Promise to Me:   Honesty is not always the easiest trail to choose but it is the only one with the promise of a rainbow at the end.

My Song to God:   I Would Be Like Jesus     by James Rowe 1911

Earthly pleasures vainly call me,
I would be like Jesus;
Nothing worldly shall enthrall me,
I would be like Jesus.

Refrain:
Be like Jesus, this my song,
In the home and in the throng;
Be like Jesus, all day long!
I would be like Jesus.

He has broken every fetter,
I would be like Jesus;
That my soul may serve Him better,
I would be like Jesus.

Refrain:
Be like Jesus, this my song,
In the home and in the throng;
Be like Jesus, all day long!
I would be like Jesus.

All the way from earth to glory,
I would be like Jesus;
Telling o’er and o’er the story,
I would be like Jesus.

Refrain:
Be like Jesus, this my song,
In the home and in the throng;
Be like Jesus, all day long!
I would be like Jesus.

That in Heaven He may meet me,
I would be like Jesus;
That His words “Well done” may greet me,
I would be like Jesus.

Refrain:
Be like Jesus, this my song,
In the home and in the throng;
Be like Jesus, all day long!
I would be like Jesus.

And the Winner is. . .

God’s Word:  Proverbs 14:14-35

God’s Message to Me:

An unlucky loser is shunned by all, but everyone loves a winner.   You can be a winner in the game of life!  I’ve provided you with the rule book that will put you at the head of the class.  If you want to win—really win, then read the whole rulebook.

The book of Proverbs is the condensed version of how to be a winner. Read often and heed daily and you too fill find yourself a winner.  Wisdom, with a good dose of common sense, is the advice you find here.

1. Be gracious—you will be shown grace.

2. Be prudent—sift and weigh every thing you are told.

3. Be cautious—watch your steps and avoid evil!

4. Be compassionate—reach out to the poor and honor God!

5. Be thoughtful—win love and trust!

6. Be truthful—stop the spread of lies!

7. Be slow to anger—eager to forgive!

Integrity of living creates a country of winners.  Compromise your integrity and you compromise your life—family—country.  God devotion makes a country strong: God-avoidance makes a country weak.

God’s Question to Me:  Will you make the wise choice to read My rule book instead of stumbling through life without a compass?

God’s Promise to Me:  A life of integrity, lived with wisdom and common sense not only helps you, your family, your country, but it blesses and honors Me as well.

My Song to God:   Thy Word   by Michael W Smith and Amy Grant

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path

When I feel afraid
And think I’ve lost my way
Still, You’re there right beside me
Nothing will I fear
As long as You are near
Please be near me to the end

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path

I will not forget
Your love for me and yet
My heart forever is wandering
Jesus by my guide
And hold me to Your side
And I will love You to the end

Nothing will I fear
As long as You are near
Please be near me to the end

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path
And a light unto my path
You’re the light unto my path
