Follow the Light

10 Aug

God’s WordPsalms 119:105-112

God’s Attribute: Lightens our path of lifeFollow the light (2)

God’s Message to me:

My Word (the Bible) was given to light up the path of your life so you can see clearly.  The more you read the Word, the more light you have.  There is no need to stumble through life when I am eager to share My light with you.  When you feel like your life is falling apart you will find the guidance you need in My Word to put it back together.

The stories, sayings and rules found in My Word are there to guide you into the happiest life you could possibly have.  They are not given to hinder but to free you.  Truth frees!  When others try to throw you off track, the truths you have gleaned from My Word will keep you strong and help you see the path of your life clearly.

My Word is a book on living and it is yours forever.  My Word never changes and My promises never fail. This is My gift to you and includes with it joy unspeakable.  When you focus your life on My Word and live according to My guidelines you will experience a peace that passes understanding–no matter the circumstances of your life.

God’s Question for me

Will you follow the LIGHT of My WORD so I can light up your life with peace and joy?

God’s Promise to me

There is no night so dark that My Word cannot bring a glimmer of light and hope.

My Prayer to Emulate God’s Attributes:  I Pledge:

My mind: To continually feed on Your Words of life!

My voice:  To encourage others with gems from Your Word.

My heart:  To be devoted to following You with my whole heart.

My body:  To serve as Your hands and feet to those around me.

Can you Trace your Lineage?

5 Nov

God’s Word: Luke 3:23-38

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

You are the culmination of generations of the family you were born into.  The whole family 7-13-2013What they failed to do you now have the choice to succeed.  By tracing your lineage you gain knowledge about life.  What did your ancestors struggle with?  What did they succeed at?  The choices you make today will reach out and impact future generations.  Do you want them to bemoan your mistakes or rejoice in your victories?  Struggles you fail to conquer they will also fail to conquer.  They need your good example to draw courage and strength for their own struggles.

The Bible was written and compiled so you would know the past so you can help make the future better.  It is your guide to victory in spite of the circumstances of life.  The Bible is packed with victories and defeats.  And you are the beneficiary of it all.  You can gain understanding by both the gains and the losses.  You don’t have to make the same mistakes that the Bible records.  And I offer Myself to help you sift through it all.  I did not provide the Bible and then leave you on your own to figure it all out.  Of course not!  As you read My Spirit will interact with your spirit and teach you things beyond human understanding.

My gift of the Bible helps you understand the lineage of mankind on this earth.    You are the benefactor of all that has gone before.  You are now free to make your own choices and lay a foundation for future generations.  Develop the abilities I have given you and use them to make the world a better place.  Your descendants are looking to your example as they make their own life choices.  Your life matters!

God’s Question: What foundation are you laying for the future?

God’s Promise: Life eternal together with Jesus can be yours.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Your wonderful Word that guides my life.

I am Sorry I don’t draw from its strength more often.

Thank You for forgiveness that I know I can count on.

Please help me lay a foundation of words and deeds that

will point future generations to You.

Proof is in the Pudding

God’s Word: Matthew 11:1–19

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Suppose someone showed up on planet earth Jesus and Bibletoday that could give sight to the blind, cause the lame to walk, heal various diseases, restore the deaf to hearing, raise the dead, and help the wretched of the earth understand that God is on their side. This would be no sleight of hand hocus-pocus person.  Would this person not be acclaimed as a “god?”  This is exactly what Jesus showed up on planet earth and did.  While many believed, others were jealous of his powers, and killed him.

Never has anyone on earth done the things Jesus was able to do.  He came to earth as My Ambassador to demonstrate My love for humanity.  All who believed and sought him out were healed.  This not only demonstrated My love, but my power over life and death.  My goal was that the world would stand up and listen to His message of love and forgiveness.  Instead, many claimed these powers came from Satan rather than believe Jesus was My representative on earth for the good of all mankind. The proof was in the pudding but they chose to spit it out.

And what about you?  I came to earth in the bodily form of Jesus.  He and I are as one.  I orchestrated the writing and preservation of the Bible, down through the ages, so you could come to know Jesus and then Me intimately.  I provide My very Spirit to abide with those to believe in and follow the path Jesus lived and died to demonstrate.  He is My exact representative in your life to guide, provide and protect.  Through Him, I am with you always.  Search no longer friend, the proof is in the pudding.  Enjoy and live life to the fullest.

God’s Question: Are you listening to Me, really listening?

God’s Promise: Jesus came as truth embodied and to those who believe I abide with them as they share that truth with others.

My Prayer to God

I praise You for Jesus perfect example of living and dying for others.

I am sorry I too often choose to live to please self instead of Jesus.

Thank You for Your love and calling me to follow in Jesus steps.

Help me live like Jesus—live to bless others.

Your Personal Tutor

28 Mar

God’s Word:  Matthew 7:28, 29, When Jesus concluded his address, the crowd burst into applause.  They had never heard teaching like this.  It was apparent that he was living everything he was saying—quite a contrast to their religion teachers!  This was the best teaching they had ever heard.

Jesus’ Message to Me: (My interpretation of what Jesus is saying in these verses)

Now it is your turn to decide how you will respond to My teaching. Jesus and Bible I’ve laid out all the basics for living a victorious life.  This is really a one size fits all generations teaching. These words of Mine will never be old-fashioned or need to be set aside for an improved version.  Relationships never go out of style.

The first group of hearers of this message just had their memory to hold these teachings. You have a better method of “hearing” My Words.  You can read them—over and over.  And with each reading My Spirit will interact with your spirit, teaching you personally—one on one—just what will most help you live victorious. Yes, I am your personal tutor.

No, I will never leave you nor forsake you.  But neither will I force myself upon you.  As you turn your eyes to My Word and ask Me for understanding, I will reveal unto you things too wonderful for you to imagine on your own.  The Bible is a LIVING book.  All other books you simply read the authors words but in reading the Bible you are interacting with My Holy Spirit that will guide you into all understanding.

Jesus’ Question for Me: Will you allow Me to be your personal tutor and guide you into all understanding?

Jesus’ Promise to Me:  I will open the eyes of your heart and reveal to you truths that will bless you through time & eternity.

My Prayer to God

I praise You for these wonderful words of hope and joy eternal.

I am sorry for not doing a better job of sharing Your Words.

Thank You for Your Spirit that teaches me understanding.

Help me devote my life to living our Your Word.

Four Intolerables

1 Nov

God’s Word:  Proverbs 30:21-23

God’s Message to Me:

“Three things are too much for even the earth to bear, yes, four things shake its foundations:”

1. When the janitor becomes the boss: When a person is placed in a position they did not train for nor have the qualifications for that responsibility, they often become “drunk with power.”  Many foolish choices are made when the person in charge is not worthy of their position. The business will fail with foolish leadership.

2. When a fool gets rich:  Wisdom is needed to handle money.  The fool squanders his money and is left poorer than he was before he got rich.  Such a waste.

3. When a whore is voted “woman of the year:” This shows the degradation of society.  As with the janitor and fool, this is putting someone in a position they are not qualified to receive.

4. When a girlfriend replaces a faithful wife: Again, this is such foolishness and has such far reaching, painful effects on so many people—the wife, children, the grandparents and extended family.

A society that rejects My wisdom, found in My Word, becomes foolish in their very thinking.   Foolishness unleashed devastates the family, the community, the government, the world.  My wisdom, found in my Word, builds and gives strength in all these areas.

God’s Question to Me:  Have you accepted My wisdom found in My Word or are you floundering around without a moral compass?

God’s Promise to Me:   “Come unto Me, all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.”

 My Song to God:          Holy Bible, Book Divine        by John Burton 1803

Holy Bible, Book divine,
Precious treasure, thou art mine;
Mine to tell me whence I came;
Mine to teach me what I am.

Mine to chide me when I rove;
Mine to show a Savior’s love;
Mine thou art to guide and guard;
Mine to punish or reward.

Mine to comfort in distress;
Suffering in this wilderness;
Mine to show, by living faith,
Man can triumph over death.

Mine to tell of joys to come,
And the rebel sinner’s doom;
O thou holy Book divine,
Precious treasure, thou art mine.

Storms of Life

6 Apr

God’s Word:  Matthew 7:24,25   Jesus said, “These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living.  They are foundational words, words to build a life on.  If you work these words into your life you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock.  Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house.  It was fixed to the Rock.”

Jesus’ Message to Me: (My interpretation of what Jesus is saying to me through these verses)

Your world–overloaded with information and choices!  You could never exhaust the resources and choices available to you.  Nor do you need to.  Above all, be sure you choose the foundational stones of your life carefully.  The strength of your life depends upon this.  Many call to you to choose their foundation for a life fulfilling and abundant.  They don’t really care about you—they are salesmen trying to save their own necks by making a buck on you.

In these 107 verses I have given you, the foundation that will stand against all disasters and foes is clearly laid out.   Ignore them and you will surely wish you had made a better choice.  You will be tossed to and fro with every storm life sends your way—and you can be sure there will be many.  For without a proper foundation, which I have offered you in these 107 verses, your foundation is but clay and will crumble for not only time, but also eternity.

These words aren’t written for your enjoyment, merely to read and go your merry way. No, they are written for you to work them into your daily life by using them as your solid foundation.  They will guide your steps and keep you on safe ground.  They will give you a hope and an eternal future. No storm of life can topple you when you build on My foundation.  For the life built on My foundation gets the added bonus of my daily presence to comfort, guide and bless.

Jesus’ Question for Me: How is your foundation holding up to the storms of life?  Consider rebuilding on this foundation I have prepared just for you.

Jesus’ Promise to Me:  “I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.”

My Song to Jesus:  The Wise and Foolish Builders by Ann Omley 1948

The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
But the house on the Rock stood firm.

The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
And the house on the sand fell flat.

So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
And the blessings will come down.
The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
So build your life on the Lord.
