Jesus’ Family Tree

God’s Word:  Matthew 1jesus-family-tree

God’s Message:   (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Your family tree carries the history of your family but it doesn’t determine your destiny.  Each generation makes its own choices—for good or ill.  For the person who loves Me and looks to Me for guidance, even in their failures, I will make all things work together for good.  The family tree of Jesus was not made up of perfect people.  There were liars, cheaters, wife stealers, selfish people, and the whole gamut of sins.   Jesus did not let his ancestry determine his destiny.  He chose a destiny to live and die for others sake.

Joseph, the man I chose to be the husband of Mary, Jesus mother, was handpicked by Me, based upon the choices he made in life—not because of his heritage.  He was a good man that I knew would care for and train Jesus in His growing up years.  Joseph chose his destiny when he believed the angel I sent in a dream.  The message he received was not an easy one to swallow.  “His girlfriend was pregnant with a Spirit-conceived son.”

Rather than dismiss the dream, and Mary as his intended, he did just what the angel commanded him.  He married Mary but did not consummate the marriage until after Jesus was born.  Mary gave birth to Jesus as a virgin.  The angel gave Joseph the name for the baby—“Jesus—meaning ‘God saves.’”  Loved one—I orchestrated the writing of the Bible as the family tree of humanity.  As you read and heed, you will come face to face with Jesus, My Son, sent to bring you salvation.

God’s Question: What destiny are you choosing for your life?

God’s Promise: To those who choose to align their destiny with My higher purposes for life—there is joy unspeakable and full of glory.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You for giving us wisdom in choosing our destiny.

I am sorry that I often ignore Your wisdom and make foolish choices.

Thank You for Jesus’ forgiveness that covers the faults of my choices.

Help me to daily align my life with your purposes for living and live in victory, come what may.

From Rags to Riches

Genesis 41:39-40  So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “You’re the man for us.  God has given you the inside story—no one is as qualified as you in experience and wisdom.  From now on, you’re in charge of my affairs; all my people will report to you.  Only as King will I be over you.”

Lessons for Living Today:

Joseph may have been the first victim of human trafficking.  joseph-pit-slideJust think, his own brothers sold him because of jealousy.  But Joseph took the high road.  Instead of mourning his lot in life he honored God in all he did.  He did not blame God for the troubles he was in.  He did the very best he could amidst his circumstances by serving others.  Because he was faithful in troubled times, God elevated him to be second only to the king.

What is the story of your life?  Are you in the midst of troubled times because of your own choices or because of others choices?  Take heart!  You are in charge of writing the ending to your story.  The choices you make from here on out determine your destiny.  By putting ourselves in Joseph’s place and responding to negative circumstances in a positive way we can change our destiny.  Don’t borrow sorrow from tomorrow—instead let’s do our best every day.

We can all have a rags to riches life story.  Sometimes we say “if only. . . thus and so. . .things would be different for me.”  If things are ever going to be different for me it will be because of the choices I make in the hard times.  I must become that different person I want to be today if I want things to change in my future.  That is the attitude Joseph had. He took the rags of his present and used them to weave the riches for the future—even the future he could not see. God was his hope and stay when he could not see tomorrow.

God’s Question: Will you trust me for tomorrow?

God’s Promise: Strength for the day, rest for the labor, light for the way.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You that You are completely trustworthy.

I am sorry I have ever worried over my future.

Thank You for Your amazing provision.

Help me serve others as unto You.

Give Up!

13 May

God’s Word: Acts: 17:10-15

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

What is it what causes you to “give up?”  Let goYour life is a culmination of what you have “given up on,” and what you have “stuck it out.”  Looking back you will see times that you gave up on something and now you wish you would have stuck it out.  There are many things you should never give up on and likewise there are many things you should give up.  Never give up on loving others selflessly as you want Me to love you, on being kind, helpful, forgiving, patient and understanding.  Give up on bitterness, lack of forgiveness, hateful words, cruelty, unfaithfulness, selfishness, dishonesty and immorality.

You are what you are, and where you are, because of the choices you have made. What have you held onto that has damaged your relationships with others?  What have you given up that you wish you could bring back?  Don’t let the emotions of the moment determine your future destiny.  Consider Christ and how He lived and died, not to serve Himself—but to serve others.  When choosing what to hold onto and what to give up, think of His example and you won’t go wrong.  He came to earth to bless your life both now and for eternity.

You can’t turn back the clock and undo bad choices. But you have complete control of today.  Don’t fret a moment over what you can’t change but determine from here on out to follow Jesus’ example and accept His total forgiveness.  At times you can go back to those you have hurt and made amends. My best advice for you who have regrets and sorrows is turn to Jesus and My Word and you will find direction and peace for all your tomorrows.  I will never give up on you but will not force Myself on you.  My Word is My love letter to you to give you joy unspeakable and full of glory.  Never give up on Me!

God’s Question: Will you let Me help you give up pain?

God’s Promise: My love is sufficient for all your pain.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for my decision to never give up on You.

I am Sorry to have ever wavered in my faith.

Thank You for Your faithfulness, no matter what.

Please Help Me be Your faithful witness all my life.

Jesus’ Family Tree

My Song to God:  Face to Face  by Carrie E Breck 1898

  1. Face to face with Christ, my Savior,
    Face to face—what will it be,
    When with rapture I behold Him,
    Jesus Christ who died for me?

    • Refrain:
      Face to face I shall behold Him,
      Far beyond the starry sky;
      Face to face in all His glory,
      I shall see Him by and by!
  2. Only faintly now I see Him,
    With the darkened veil between,
    But a blessed day is coming,
    When His glory shall be seen.

    • Refrain:
      Face to face I shall behold Him,
      Far beyond the starry sky;
      Face to face in all His glory,
      I shall see Him by and by!
  3. What rejoicing in His presence,
    When are banished grief and pain;
    Death is swallowed up in vict’ry,
    And the dark things shall be plain.

    • Refrain:
      Face to face I shall behold Him,
      Far beyond the starry sky;
      Face to face in all His glory,
      I shall see Him by and by!
  4. Face to face—oh, blissful moment!
    Face to face—to see and know;
    Face to face with my Redeemer,
    Jesus Christ who loves me so.

    • Refrain:
      Face to face I shall behold Him,
      Far beyond the starry sky;
      Face to face in all His glory,
      I shall see Him by and by!
