No Room!

20 Dec

God’s Word: Luke 2:1-7baby-jesus

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Have you any room for Jesus?  Do you suppose the owner of the Inn that turned Mary and Joseph away wished later he would have given up his room and went to the barn himself?  How many times have you looked back and wished you would have made a different choice?  When making a choice, you are looking at the situation from one vantage point—yours!  That, my friend, is why the world is in so much chaos even today.  Everyone looks out for his own good, without regard to the welfare of others.

I offer you this information on making choices in your life.  Look for every opportunity to bless another person—regardless of what it may cost you.  Jesus came to earth to set the example.  His entire life was lived for others—to bless, encourage, teach and heal. Who is being blessed today because of what you are doing for others?  There is NO satisfaction in living to please self.  You are never satisfied.  Never!  Jesus’ example showed that instead, you should never be satisfied with the number of people you can bless.  Keep reaching out to more.

If there is NO ROOM in your heart to bless others, there is NO ROOM for Jesus.  Serving others is serving Jesus—literally.  Good deeds done to make you look good hold no satisfaction.  Only when you set self aside can begin to realize Jesus’ heart of love and compassion.  Emulate Jesus—become His hands and feet of mercy to a hurting world.  He considered no cost to be too great to offer you a room in heaven.  As a matter of fact, He promised that there is a room reserved with your name on it.  You could never do enough good to repay Him for shedding His life’s blood to purchase that room.

God’s Question: Who are you living to bless?

God’s Promise: My heart is blessed as I see you bless others.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Jesus’ willingness to suffer in my place.

I am Sorry I live so selfishly rather than for others.

Thank You for Jesus’ example for me to follow.

Please help me expand my heart to make room for others.

Under God’s Watchful Eye

Exodus 12:  The final plague initiates the Israelites’ release from bondage in Egypt and the beginning of their journey back home.

Lessons for Living Today:

The Israelites’ were in Egypt because of a famine during the time of Joseph.Prayer and Bible Joseph sold into slavery by his brothers ended up in Egypt and became second in command.  When his brothers came to him for food he forgave them and invited the whole family to come and he cared for them.  Now it’s been 430 years and Joseph is long gone and forgotten. The Israelites are now forced labor for the Egyptians and treated harshly.  God is orchestrating their return to their homeland–Canaan. Moses, though chosen by God to lead then, tried every way possible to get out of this task.

God still chooses us to do His work under his watchful eye.  Has he chosen you or me?  How would we know of His choice?  He has provided us with a blueprint for the work needing done.  It is all laid out in His Word—the Bible.  Before Jesus returned to heaven he gave His final charge in Matthew 28:20 “Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the three-fold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you.  I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”

The charge is clear, just as it was with Moses, but how are we doing at fulfilling His request?  We can’t claim it is too difficult for it merely asks us to share the Good News with everyone we meet, wherever we go.  Basically He is charging us to let our light shine for Jesus.  Do our words and deeds honor our Lord in all we do?  We can carry out this charge no matter our occupation.  Simply let the love of God shine through your life into the lives of everyone you come in contact and be ready to share God’s Word with them.

God’s Question: Will you let Me love others through you?

God’s Promise: I’ll be with you until the very end.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You for the promise of Your daily presence.

I am sorry I get distracted from Your charge on my life.

Thank You for Your Word that daily challenges me.

Help me move boldly forward with Your charge uppermost!

Location–Location–Location

16 Jan

Genesis 13:12  Lot settled in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent near Sodom.

Lessons for Living Today:

The location of our homes influences our whole life.  Lots choiceWhat criteria do you use when choosing where to live?  Lot was looking for the easiest place to graze his many flocks and herds.  He failed to check out the community around him to discover the moral temperament of the folks living there.  By the time he settled in and made the discovery he decided to make the best of it.  Perhaps he could “make a difference” for the Lord.

It appears that Lot was looking for the easy life.  His uncle Abram had given him the choice of where to live and he made his choice based on first appearances.  His life was forever changed based on that choice.  When we make choices we must not grasp for what appears best and easiest.  Looks are deceiving.  Our lives are changed, for the better or worse, based on our choices.  What at first appears to be a perfect location (choice) may end in disaster.

Morality sets the temperature for the community.  God’s Word gives us the instruction about how to live a moral life.  To set His instructions aside is to invite disaster.  “The people of Sodom were evil—flagrant sinners against God.”  All sin is to spit in the face of God.  Sin destroys families, communities and nations.  God’s Word helps us avoid the sins that destroy.  To ignore His Word is to invite destruction.  What “location” is your moral temperature set on?  The lives of future generations depend upon your choices today!

God’s Question: Will you invite Me to help you make choices?

God’s Promise: I stand ready to help you make wise choices if you ask for My guidance.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You for Your guidance and protection in my life.

I am sorry I have often made choices that were foolish.

Thank You for protecting me through it all.

Help me make choices to benefit future generations.

The Echo into Eternity

2 Dec

God’s WordRevelation 22:1-21  (The Message)

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

What echo are you reflecting? echo Every person’s life emits echo’s that reverberate to those around them.  What’s emitted from your life is echoed back to you in many ways.  What you give is what you get in an echo.  You don’t emit curses and get back a blessing.  You don’t emit a foghorn and get back beautiful music.  You must generate that which you wish to receive.  I gave you life, the earth and everything in it.  My hope is to receive back from you acknowledgement that you accept these gifts from My hand.  Your life echo’s back to Me either positive or negative reverberations.

Echo’s tell it like it is.  Whatever you give out you get back—from others and from Me.  Is that what you really want?  Do you want what you deserve or would you like mercy?  I have an unending bucket of mercy that is waiting to be poured over your life and hide every single one of your shortcomings. My Word has described in detail how to engage My mercy in your life.  Have you read it?  To ignore My Word is to ignore My mercy.  Apart from My forgiving mercy, you are without hope for eternity. Your choice—not Mine.

The echo of your life is within My continual earshot.  I have to listen to a lot of garbage to hear a little bit of beautiful music.  What generates that music?  Those who respond to My offer of forgiveness, through Jesus sacrifice, and echo that offer to others creates the most beautiful song I could ever want to hear.  You echo my offer as you interact with others in loving, caring ways, and verbalize My love and care for them.  My salvation, My bucket of mercy, is open to whoever chooses to believe in Me through the message in My Word.  Yes, you are My echo that travels to the ends of the earth.

God’s Question: Are you My faithful service provider?

God’s Promise: Eternal love, mercy and forgiveness.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for the honor of echoing Your love to others.

I am Sorry I waste so much of the time of my life.

Thank You for reminding me to get back to echoing for You.

Please Help Me faithfully seek to serve as Your echo.

Looking at Life Backwards

28 May

God’s Word: Acts 21:1-16

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Many a life has ended in ruin because of living forward instead of backward. backwards Living forward is living for the pleasure of the moment, letting tomorrow take care of itself.  Living backward is looking into the future and choosing your desired outcome.  Then temper today’s living by the future you have chosen.  The wise man does not choose his future based on the ease and pleasure found there.  He bases it on the objectives for which he is reaching.  My call on your life is to be a blessing to others by living out My Word and making My message of salvation known to the broadest audience possible.

Jesus looked at His lifetime on earth backwards.  He saw the outcome as a result of His daily choices and He forged ahead.  His daily choices cemented the outcome, yet He did not let that determine his choices.  He was living to die—for you.  It was not a pleasant future to look ahead to but you were worth it.  He chose the unpleasant future so you could live in freedom each day of your life–free from the result of your sinful choices.  Love for you drove him forward to the cross.  So let your life be driven forward on the foundation of love for others.

Looking at life backwards and step into My freedom.  You won’t have to wonder at the outcome of your daily choices if you choose backward living.  You will know you are on target and have your goal in sight.  And along the pathway you will smell the roses of victory and rest in peace, knowing you are helping others come to victory also.  Living forward appeals to those who haven’t had the privilege of knowing the peace I give to those who choose backward living.  And why don’t they know it?  Those I placed in their lives to share My message have abdicated their duty.

God’s Question: Do you need to change the direction you are living?

God’s Promise:  My peace trumps your pleasure.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Jesus choices that set me free.

I am Sorry I too often choose forward living.

Thank You for Your wisdom that comes through Your Word.

Please Help Me live backwards to honor You.

Have it Your Way!

15 May

God’s Word: Acts 18:1-16

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

You are free to be, to do and to have whatever your heart desires. Have it your wayI do not restrict your free choice to have it your way. Live it up, follow your dreams and find your path—but keep in mind that all choices have natural consequences.  One of those natural consequences is death.  Your daily choices either postpone or hasten your death.  In addition, your daily choices determine what your life will be like after death.

Living without boundaries, while it sounds good, often turns sour.  I am here to pick up the pieces and put your life back together. The Bible is a history book; tracking humanity’s living by free choice.  It hasn’t always been a good read because too often one’s free choice conflicts with another’s free choice.  In that case—who gets their way?  You see, even in free choice, there are boundaries.  If you push your own personal boundaries too far you will end up with very tight boundaries—in prison.  But then again—it was your freedom to choose the path of life that led there.

Jesus came to earth to provide a safety net of boundaries to make up for your bad choices.  Through Him you can be set free to a life of peace and joy—no matter the circumstances that surround you.  Even in prison you can be free—even though boundaries there hold you tight.  The key to this freedom is Jesus’ forgiveness.  In Acts 2:38 He spelled out the simple way to receive that gift.  “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.”   Forgiven people become forgiving people.  No more stepping into others boundaries.  Forgiveness is true freedom.

God’s Question: Who do you need to forgive today?

God’s Promise: My forgiveness is freely given to forgivers.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for your wonderful forgiveness.

I am Sorry I have ever failed to forgive another.

Thank You for caring about me.

Please Help Me be your ambassador of forgiveness.

The Family Tree

2 Apr

God’s Word: Acts 3:12-26

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

You are a sprout on your family tree. Jesus family tree Will you be a healthy branch of will you be a blight?  The choice is entirely in your hands.  Choices you make will affect your descendants for generations.  Choose carefully what you are leaving in your wake.  You cannot change the past but you can change the future.  Life is brief!  Eternity is forever!  Will you leave behind a path for descendants to follow?  And where will that path lead?

Jesus also had a family tree.  Not all of His ancestors left a perfect path for Him to follow.  He placed no blame but made wise choices for His own life.  By reading the New Testament you will find His life characterized by living for others.  His path led to the sick, the demon possessed, the liars, the cheaters, yes, even those who died.  His life was an offering on behalf of helping others make better choices.  By following His path of living you will find the best of both worlds—the here and now, and the heavenly realm.

Those who believe in Christ Jesus as the path to God are grafted into My forever family tree—adopted as My chosen children.  Jesus purpose in life was to invite whosoever would believe in Him—forgiveness of sin and life eternal.  Before He left earth He passed His mission on to His followers.  No one is to be excluded from hearing His message of forgiveness and acceptance.  You are His messenger.  Your life is your message.  What is the message others are getting from your life?  Are they drawn to Jesus or turned away?  Your choices today affect others tomorrows and even their eternal destiny.

God’s Question: Can I count on you to invite others into My family?

God’s Promise: Faith in Jesus covers a multitude of sins.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Jesus’ example of living for others.

I am Sorry I am way too often selfish.

Thank You for calling me to be Your messenger.

Please Help Me be faithful to Your trust.
