God’s Word:  Matthew 2wise-men

God’s Message:   (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

The Wise Men followed My star to find Mary, Joseph and Jesus.  Along the way, they encountered the arch-enemy of the child Jesus—Herod—the power-hungry king who even murdered his own sons to prevent them from taking his place as king.  “What?” Herod said. “There has been a new-born king?”  Herod pretended desire to worship this new king and told the Wise Men to let him know where He had been born.

An angel was sent to warn the wise men not to return to Herod.  Joseph too was warned by an angel to flee from Bethlehem to Egypt, because Herod was on the hunt for the child.  He obeyed and fled to Egypt.  Wicked Herod, enraged that he could not find the child, ordered all baby boys near Bethlehem murdered.  Joseph and his family remained in Egypt until after the death of Herod.  Once again, I sent an angel to tell Joseph it was safe to return home.

As I guided the circumstances around the birth and life of Jesus, I too am willing and eager to guide your life.  And I have a distinct vantage point that you are unable to see.  I can see the result of each of your choices.  Even though some of your foolish choices lead you down blind alleys—I will never leave nor forsake the one who turns to Me.  Instead of waiting until you are facing a brick wall—invite My guidance in your daily decisions.  My path doesn’t always lead through a rose garden but My daily presence in your life can give the bleakest of circumstances the fragrance of peace and inner joy.

God’s Question:  Are you happy with where your life is going?  Could you use a little help from Me?  I only come to help when invited.

God’s Promise:  The one who obeys the leading in My Word can be assured of My daily guiding presence.  Never will I turn from you.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You for your promise of guidance and I give myself to You.

I am sorry I am so easily tempted to stray from your guiding wisdom.

Thank You for forgiving and accepting me back into Your grace.

Help me to look to Your Word and listen to Your guidance.

Jesus’ Family Tree

22 Dec

God’s Word:  Matthew 1jesus-family-tree

God’s Message:   (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Your family tree carries the history of your family but it doesn’t determine your destiny.  Each generation makes its own choices—for good or ill.  For the person who loves Me and looks to Me for guidance, even in their failures, I will make all things work together for good.  The family tree of Jesus was not made up of perfect people.  There were liars, cheaters, wife stealers, selfish people, and the whole gamut of sins.   Jesus did not let his ancestry determine his destiny.  He chose a destiny to live and die for others sake.

Joseph, the man I chose to be the husband of Mary, Jesus mother, was handpicked by Me, based upon the choices he made in life—not because of his heritage.  He was a good man that I knew would care for and train Jesus in His growing up years.  Joseph chose his destiny when he believed the angel I sent in a dream.  The message he received was not an easy one to swallow.  “His girlfriend was pregnant with a Spirit-conceived son.”

Rather than dismiss the dream, and Mary as his intended, he did just what the angel commanded him.  He married Mary but did not consummate the marriage until after Jesus was born.  Mary gave birth to Jesus as a virgin.  The angel gave Joseph the name for the baby—“Jesus—meaning ‘God saves.’”  Loved one—I orchestrated the writing of the Bible as the family tree of humanity.  As you read and heed, you will come face to face with Jesus, My Son, sent to bring you salvation.

God’s Question: What destiny are you choosing for your life?

God’s Promise: To those who choose to align their destiny with My higher purposes for life—there is joy unspeakable and full of glory.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You for giving us wisdom in choosing our destiny.

I am sorry that I often ignore Your wisdom and make foolish choices.

Thank You for Jesus’ forgiveness that covers the faults of my choices.

Help me to daily align my life with your purposes for living and live in victory, come what may.

Joy to The World

21 Dec

God’s Word: Luke 2:8-20joy

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

You may wonder why I chose shepherds to receive the first announcement of Jesus’ birth.  I wanted it understood, from the very beginning, that Jesus’ birth was good news to everyone, starting with the lowly.  The first to hear the greeting from the angel were those shepherds that were on-watch.  They set aside their own need for sleep to guard the sheep and other shepherds for which they had accepted responsibility.  Good shepherds are selfless—they are top on my priority list. That is why I gave them a front row seat at the huge angelic choir on that night of Jesus’ birth.

The shepherds not only heard the news—they went into action.  They ran to find Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus.  Then they spread the good news of this birth to everyone they met along the way.  All who heard the story from them were impressed.  They spoke with passion and conviction.  When Jesus later called Himself the Good Shepherd, He may have had these who visited Him in the manger in mind.

Therefore, you do not need to know the Bible from cover to cover to be My ambassador.  Share the information you do have with everyone you meet along your life’s pathway. As you share, I am with you and help you understand more and more, plus developing your appetite for learning more of My Word.  It’s all good. . . .very good.  My joy of salvation is good news for the whole world.  But how will they know unless someone tells them.  You are that someone to the little part of the world that surrounds your daily life.  Live it–share it.

God’s Question: Who will be in heaven because of your life?

God’s Promise: Peace to all who follow Christ’s example.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for sharing Jesus with our world.

I am Sorry I am not sharing Him more with others.

Thank You for giving me the JOY of Your salvation.

Please help me be a joy to others on Your behalf.

No Room!

20 Dec

God’s Word: Luke 2:1-7baby-jesus

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Have you any room for Jesus?  Do you suppose the owner of the Inn that turned Mary and Joseph away wished later he would have given up his room and went to the barn himself?  How many times have you looked back and wished you would have made a different choice?  When making a choice, you are looking at the situation from one vantage point—yours!  That, my friend, is why the world is in so much chaos even today.  Everyone looks out for his own good, without regard to the welfare of others.

I offer you this information on making choices in your life.  Look for every opportunity to bless another person—regardless of what it may cost you.  Jesus came to earth to set the example.  His entire life was lived for others—to bless, encourage, teach and heal. Who is being blessed today because of what you are doing for others?  There is NO satisfaction in living to please self.  You are never satisfied.  Never!  Jesus’ example showed that instead, you should never be satisfied with the number of people you can bless.  Keep reaching out to more.

If there is NO ROOM in your heart to bless others, there is NO ROOM for Jesus.  Serving others is serving Jesus—literally.  Good deeds done to make you look good hold no satisfaction.  Only when you set self aside can begin to realize Jesus’ heart of love and compassion.  Emulate Jesus—become His hands and feet of mercy to a hurting world.  He considered no cost to be too great to offer you a room in heaven.  As a matter of fact, He promised that there is a room reserved with your name on it.  You could never do enough good to repay Him for shedding His life’s blood to purchase that room.

God’s Question: Who are you living to bless?

God’s Promise: My heart is blessed as I see you bless others.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Jesus’ willingness to suffer in my place.

I am Sorry I live so selfishly rather than for others.

Thank You for Jesus’ example for me to follow.

Please help me expand my heart to make room for others.

Promises that Rejuvenate

8 Dec

God’s WordPsalms 119:49-56promise

God’s Attribute: God’s promises rejuvenate us

God’s Message to me:

My Word is so much more than an accurate history and prophecy book—it is My Book of promises.  My promises could be likened to a legally binding declaration that gives you (the reader) a right to expect or to claim the performance or withholding of a specified act.  As I said to Joshua, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” I say that to all who seek to follow My words of wisdom.  I do not change My mind.  You can count on My promises and I hope that rejuvenates you!

Those who say “my word is my bond” are saying that you can expect them to do what they say—without fail.  I too can say MY WORD IS MY BOND.  How are you doing at living out your word?  Can others depend upon you to do what you say?  Countless numbers of people make promises to Me and then fail to carry them out.  A vow is a promise to Me.  Be careful that you do not fail to carry out your vows.

Promises rejuvenate when you have confidence in the promise giver.  Please know for certain that My promises will never fail to be fulfilled.  So, live that others can be rejuvenated by your promises.  They will when they can so trust you that they know you will keep your word.  What a legacy you leave when you are a promise keeper.

God’s Question for me

As you know you can trust My promises are others as assured that you will keep your promises?

God’s Promise to me:

My Word will never fail.

My Prayer to Emulate God’s Attributes:  I Pledge:

My mind: To connect my thoughts to Your Word and live them out.

My voice:  To always fulfill what I say I will do.

My heart:  To love all others with Your sacrificial love.

My body:  To serve others as though I were serving You.

What Shape Are Your In?

7 Dec

God’s WordPsalms 119:41-48shape-of-love

God’s Attribute: Love that shapes our lives

God’s Message to me:

Have you stopped to consider how your love shapes other lives?  The amount of love, forgiveness, compassion and kindness you give others shapes their very being.  In the same way, the extent to which you respond to My love and forgiveness, compassion and kindness, shapes your very being.  You cannot give what you do not possess.  Accept from Me and then pass on to others.  My love and attributes can flow through your life, into the lives of others.  Oh, how hungry the world is for My love, forgiveness, compassion and kindness.  But unless they see it reflected in you—they may miss it altogether.

Guard what I have entrusted to you.  Use the words of counsel you read from My Word to shape your life and shape how you relate to others.  My truth and wisdom do not flow into your life by osmosis—you must search them out and then live them out in the school of hard knocks.  Do you deserve My love and forgiveness?  What could you ever do to deserve the sacrifice that was given on your behalf—the death of Christ?  Then why do you think others should be deserving of your love and forgiveness.

To fully benefit from My gift of love and forgiveness, you must allow it to shape your thoughts and be extended to all others—regardless of whether they deserve it or not.  Regardless of whether they accept you or not—you be My hands, feet and mouth that conveys My love for your world.

God’s Question for me

How has My love shaped the way you relate to others in your life?

God’s Promise to me

My love shapes your life so you can shape other lives on My behalf.

My Prayer to Emulate God’s Attributes:  I Pledge:

My mind: To focus on forgiveness instead of retribution.

My voice:  To be an encourager of others by ready forgiveness.

My heart:  To express my appreciation of your love by loving others.

My body:  To serve others in appreciation for Your forgiveness of me.

The Classroom of Life

3 Dec

God’s WordPsalms 119:33-40lifes-lessons

God’s Attribute: Teaches

God’s Message to me:

Your whole life is the classroom and I am the patient teacher who never gives up on you.  I am here to help you learn the lessons for living life abundantly and stay right on course.  If you seek it—I will give insight for living that will help you live your life on a plain that is elevated far above the circumstances of your life.  Your obedient response to the lessons I am teaching you can turn your life into a freeway of easy traveling right into My presence.

How easily mankind’s attention is diverted from My words of wisdom and turned to piling up loot.  The toys and trinkets of life divert your attention from the direction I am leading you.  Your life does not consist of what you possess but who possesses you.  Therefore, do not worry about what you will eat or drink or anything related to this life.  Instead, focus on what I am teaching you through it all and how you can reach out to and encourage others to travel down the freeway I have provided.

My promises will never fail—they are for your counsel.  They provide   you with hope and a future.  They are meant to give you cheer—which gives your body health.  Yes, your whole life is a classroom full of wonderful discoveries that you can use to bless and encourage others.

God’s Question for me

Can I count on you to learn your lessons well and share your discoveries with others?

God’s Promise to me

The teachings in my Word will invigorate your life and give meaning to your days.

My Prayer to Emulate God’s Attributes:  I Pledge:

My mind: To make it my life’s goal to honor You with my thoughts.

My voice:  To use all my words to encourage and bless others.

My heart:  To love others as though it were You I was loving.

My body:  To serve others as though it were You I was serving.
