Sterling Principle # 17
Dear child, I want your full attention: please do what I show you. A whore is a bottomless pit; a loose woman can get you in deep trouble fast. She’ll take you for all you’ve got; she’s worse than a pack of thieves.
Vital matters require our full attention. Protecting your life and family from a pack of thieves is a very important matter. In this case the thieves steal your integrity, destroy your family, your relationships, your own honesty. Therefore, be on high alert at all times to not allow this thief entrance into your thoughts or heart. As always, God provides the antidote for this distraction.
How can we control our thoughts? “You’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.” Philippians 4:8 There is constantly a battle going on in the mind between good and evil. We must draw the battle lines clearly.
Our thoughts fuel our decisions. Garbage in—garbage out! Instead of garbage, if we FILL our minds with things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious, etc. then that is what we will live out. We avoid bad choices by refusing thoughts that turn us away from the best. God’s best for you and I is always best for humanity. He loves us and wants us to be happy and be a blessing to all others. Why must we give our relationship our full attention? When we defile our relationships with others we also define our relationship with God.
God’s Question: Will you put a guard on your thoughts?
God’s Promise: What you think you really are!
My Prayer to God:
I praise You for Your Word that protects our thoughts.
I am sorry I have ever focused on negative thoughts.
Thank You for Your great advice about avoiding thievery.
Help me spread good thoughts never negative ones.
