From the Jaws of the Alligator

24 Mar

Exodus 2:  Moses is rescued from the Nile by his creative mother.

Lessons for Living Today:

Moses’ mother was just like most mothers.  baby in basketShe felt there was “something special” about her son and devised a plan to hide him from those who wanted to feed him to the alligators. She “water-proofed” a basket and made a bed for baby Moses and put it in the edge of the Nile.  Moses’ sister hid in the reeds and watched out for the baby.  Who would come down to the Nile and discover the baby crying in the basket but the daughter of the king. Her heart went out to him instead of feeding him to the alligators.  Moses’ sister offered to find someone to nurse him—and brought her mother back.

Moses’ mother was right.  There was something special about him and God had a big plan for him.  Every child conceived is known by God and has a God-ordained place in history.  Psalms 139:13  You created every part of me; you put me together in my mother’s womb. To take the life of a babe in the womb is to change history!  God already had a plan for its life.  What a wonderful world this would be if every conceived child was treated as Moses’ mother treated him.  She knew God had a “special purpose” for her son.

Moses lived to carry out God’s special purpose.  To take the life of a babe in the womb is not just to snuff out one life, but countless generations that will never have the chance to smell the flowers—to fulfill God’s purpose for their lives.  There are alligators in today’s world, seeking to destroy the lives of unborn babies on the altar of convenience.  Sex outside of marriage carries with it many pitfalls, one of them being getting “rid” of the inconvenience of pregnancy.  When we thwart God’s plan we can be sure we will have to live with the consequences—physical, spiritual, emotional.

God’s Question: How are you saving babies from the alligators?

God’s Promise: Those who stop a beating heart will deal with Me.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You for honor of giving birth.

I am sorry so many are feeding their babies to “alligators.”

Thank You for pro-life organizations that stand for life.

Help me raise awareness of alternatives to abortion.
