Turn Shadows into Sunshine

20 Jan

Genesis 15:1  God said, “I’m your shield.  Your reward will be grand.”

Lessons for Living Today:

Life’s shadows cannot quench the goodness of God.   Silver-LiningGod can shine through the deepest, darkest, most dreadful situations with hope and joy unquenchable.  He longs for us all to let Him be our companion through the world’s troubles.  His love works like a shield to bounce off the dread of worry.  The worry does more damage to our lives than the actual cause of the worry.  He is eager to share His “shield of protection” with those who believe in Him and cast all their cares upon Him.

75 years old, and childless, God told Abram he would be the father of many nations. Abram didn’t understand how that could be—but he chose to believe what God said.  The key is belief in the face of impossible odds. We often carry our burdens around like a shadow is following.  But we don’t have to carry those burdens.  God is our shield and He will protect us whatever may come.  That does not mean he will take away all our heartaches but His loving care will hold us up through the darkest of storms.

God specializes in the impossible.  Abram did indeed become the father of many nations.  We too can survive and thrive even in the face of impossible odds.  When a temptation, sorrow or illness threatens to wreak havoc in our lives, let’s remember that God is willing and able to be our shield of protection.  Nothing can penetrate His shield except our choice to not believe Him.  The sunshine of His love turns our darkest of days into hope and joy that cannot be quenched.    Hold onto belief!

God’s Question: Will you let Me be your shield?

God’s Promise: It is through belief you are protected.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You for caring about what concerns me.

I am sorry I ever let worry take away Your sunshine.

Thank You for being my peace in the midst of life’s storms.

Help me share Your loving care with others.
