God’s Word: I Corinthians 14: 1-48 (The Message)
God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)
Rules are given for the benefit of everyone. Those who ignore the rules show they have no concern whatsoever for others. They operate from the basis that nothing other than their own satisfaction matters. Rule-breakers are a huge drain on society. Millions are spent on lawyers, courts, judges, and prisons—all because someone wants to do things their own way. Actually, the rule-breakers are just following the example of their leader—Satan. Satan is the one who gives people the idea that they should be in charge and no one should tell them what to do. Satan likes nothing better that to create discord, hate and war.
My Word is not given as rules for you to play by in order to earn your way to heaven. You could follow all My rules and still not be welcomed into heaven. So what good are My rules? They will help society live in peace and harmony—helping one another instead of lying and cheating each other. You follow My rules to help yourself and those around you. Yes, they were all given for your good. The rules of your land are for those who refuse to follow my good rules. They murder, steal, lie, and do all sorts of evil and wicked things. In order to protect the innocent you have made rules to stop the wicked.
Heaven is not achieved by rule keeping! In happens in your heart as you come to believe that I sent Jesus into the world to demonstrate My love and concern for mankind. Then, everything you do will emulate from that knowledge and belief. Belief that isn’t followed up with actions is not belief. Belief is always a springboard for actions. You find that you want to follow My Word in response to what Jesus did for you. He died in your place, so that you can be forgiven of your sin. Playing by the rules is to make your life here better—not attain heaven.
God’s Question: Are you a rule-keeper or a Jesus follower?
God’s Promise: Rule keeping doesn’t get you into heaven.
My Prayer to God:
I Praise You for Jesus selfless sacrifice for even me.
I am Sorry I don’t live a more sacrificial like for others.
Thank You for your patience and forgiveness.
Please Help Me emulate your patience and forgiveness with others.
