The Way of Love

God’s WordI Corinthians 13: 1-13  (The Message)

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

No matter what you say, believe or do, you are bankrupt without love. mother theresaYou could do the most wonderful things for others but with any other motive than love—it is worthless.  Many great things have been done from entirely selfish motives.  While it looks good from the outside—time will show the true motives.  So, how do you know if love is your motivation and not self-centeredness?

Here is how to recognize true love.  Love has no expiration date–  Love cares more for others than for self–Love is satisfied with what it has–Love is humble and doesn’t think of self more than others–Love is willing to wait patiently–Love stays calm instead of flying off the handle–Love looks for the good and ignores the bad–Love isn’t happy when others grovel–Love takes pleasure in the flowering of truth–  Love puts up with anything–Love always looks for the best and refuses to complain about the past–Love keeps going to the end.

Jesus was love embodied.  He is your example of how to live a life of love.  You don’t have to have all the answers or become a door-mat.  But whatever you do—follow Jesus’ example of how to treat others.  And then, never forget that how you treat all others is just as though you were treating Jesus that way.  Your job is not to know the “why” but simply to keep moving forward in love.  Therefore, I implore you to do these three things as you live your life:

1–Trust steadily in Me!

2–Hope unswervingly!

3–Love extravagantly!

Love others exactly as you wish Me to love you—for I will.

God’s Question: Will you allow Me to love others through you?

God’s Promise: There is no true love apart from My love.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Jesus example of true love.

I am Sorry I so badly fail to emulate His true love.

Thank You for forgiving my many weaknesses.

Please Help Me set self aside and love on Your behalf.
