Avoid the Triggers

11 Sep

God’s WordI Corinthians 10:1-33 (The Message)

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Advertisers know the profitability of using triggers.  Fanci FreezeYou’re bombarded with media aimed at your trigger spots.  “Eat what you enjoy.  Do what makes you feel good. You deserve a break today.  Have it your way.” It all sounds innocent but is destroying your lives.  Obesity kills!  Alcohol ruins lives and kills!  A life bent on pleasing self is not the way to happiness—contrary to what the advertisers say.  People have the information to protect their health and minds, but they cave to the triggers that bombard them wherever they go.

To avoid triggers you would have to leave the earth. No one is exempt from caving to temptation.  Self-confidence doesn’t cut it.  What makes all the difference in the world is when you place your confidence in Me.  I will never let you down.  I’ll never let you be pushed beyond your limit.  I’ll always be there to help you come through the temptation.  But I never go where I am not invited.  And I never go where My Son is disregarded.  To disregard My Son is to cut Me off.  My Son and I are one.  Our greatest desire is to draw near to you—but We must be invited.  Therein is your power and strength.

You can do all things; avoid all triggers, when you invite Me to accompany you on your life’s journey.  That doesn’t mean the triggers don’t temp you—it means I will help you get past the temptations.  I will do My part only if you do your part.  You must avoid those things, those places, where the triggers will go off: the store, the TV, the movies, the computer, the restaurants, the pubs, etc.  If you have a problem you must avoid the source of the problem.  Don’t plop yourself down in front of porn and then ask Me to help you avoid it. The key is to take the focus off self and get busy helping others.

God’s Question: How will you avoid triggers today?

God’s Promise: Together, you and I can move mountains.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Your moment by moment presence.

I am Sorry I sometimes forget You are right here.

Thank You for Your desire to help me succeed.

Please Help Me focus on helping others succeed.

Great messages. Nourishing and edifying. Simple but pungent. Keep them coming and to the ends of the earth.

    Grace to you Ps Sam
