Working with the Disadvantaged

God’s Word: Romans 12: 1-8    (The Message)

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

My special blessing is upon those who work with those who are unable to help themselves. comfort That is pure love—My love expressed through your words and deeds.  You become My hands and feet of love and compassion.  Keep yourself pumped realizing that I am taking your treatment of the disadvantaged personally—just as though it was me you were helping.  Realizing this, perhaps it will help you not to get irritated at them, or depressed by them.  It will help both them and you if you keep a smile on your face.

Have you ever been in a disadvantaged state—perhaps because of a surgery or illness?  You probably felt badly that others had to care for your basic needs.  What a difference it makes if the caregiver has a smile and a gentle touch—out of concern for you.  If they have a stone face you feel like you are such a burden to them and that brings on their sadness and depression.  But if they smile it says they enjoy caring for you.  And everyone who works with the disadvantage can smile if they remember that their treatment of that person is done as unto Me.

So here’s what I want you to do!  Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking around life—and place it before Me as an offering.  Embracing what I do for you is the best thing you can do for Me.  Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.  Instead, fix your attention on Me—as though it was Me you were ministering to.  You’ll be changed from the inside out.  Readily recognize what the person needs and quickly respond.  Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, I will bring out the best in you, blessing you so you can pass on that blessing to another.

God’s Question: Will you minister to others as though it were me?

God’s Promise: I will bring out the best in you as you offer your best to another in need.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for calling me to be a blessing on Your behalf.

I am Sorry I so often get so focused on self that I miss your call.

Thank You for this advice to bless another as unto You.

Please Help Me look for opportunities to bless You
