Freedom That Destroys

God’s Word: Romans 6:15-23  (The Message)

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

You were created with freedom of choice—My gift to you. ball and chain But it is up to you to use that freedom wisely or soon you may find yourself enslaved and your freedoms stripped.  My Word—the Bible—serves as your passport to a free and blessed life.  As you travel through life it will help you make wise choices that will guarantee you freedoms in both this life—and eternal life.  I have entrusted parents with the task of passing on to their children the teachings of the Bible, to protect their freedoms throughout life.

Freedom destroys when used without discretion.  I have given you complete freedom to smoke that cigarette, to drink that alcohol, to use cocaine, to overeat foods that destroy health.  None of these choices are to be toyed with or the result may be disaster.  Not only is your freedom of choice stripped, but your whole life can be destroyed because of your choices.  And you thought it was freedom that allowed you to make that choice.  In reality it was bondage packaged so appealing that you made the choice and gave up all freedom.

Billions are spent annually to rehabilitate those who have relinquished their freedom for slavery.  World poverty could be eliminated with those billions spent bailing people out of their foolish choices.  You see, you are only one person, but the consequences of your choices reach out to your family, community, country and world.  Make it your aim to build—not destroy—by the words and deeds of your life—by your daily choices.   When My Word is left out of the playing field of your life—you have ignored your very key to happiness throughout this life—and the next.

God’s Question: Will you invite Me to help you make choices?

God’s Promise: I have only your very best interests at heart.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Your wonderful Words of life.

I am Sorry I make foolish choices.

Thank You for your forgiving grace.

Please Help Me let Your Word guide my every decision.
