God’s Word: Acts 15:1-29
God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)
In the days following Jesus’ resurrection and ascension, when the followers were trying to make sense of what all happened, they had many challenges. It was hard for them to realize the finality of Jesus fulfilling of the Old Law. They thought that Jesus teachings were something to add to what they already had. After all, generations upon generation had been following those Old Laws. They could not fathom just what Jesus fulfillment of that law meant. The Old Law had been a means to make recompense for sin. At Christ’s death He PAID IN FULL the penalty for the sins of mankind. He paid the price for you.
Mankind—this giving you free will causes many problems—for you and for Me. You seem to think it is up to you to plan out your own salvation. You come up with long lists of do’s and don’ts. No one can manage to follow those lists because no one is perfect. Imperfect people cannot live perfectly. Yet only perfect people are invited into My heaven. What a dilemma! Hello!! Jesus, the perfect man/God, died to make up for your imperfections. By acceptance of Him I forgive you—wipe your slate clean—you’re perfect in My sight.
The only do’s and don’ts you need to remember are these—“as you would like me to treat you—treat others that same way.” Do you think I would wipe your slate clean even though you go around holding grudges and treating people badly? It is that simple people! Consider what sort of treatment you want from Me—than do that for others—whether or not they reciprocate. Those are the simple basics for living a successful life. I forgive you—you forgive others—and it’s a done deal.
God’s Question: Are you willing to forgive so I can forgive you?
God’s Promise: As you’ve done to the least, you’ve done to Me.
My Prayer to God:
I Praise You For removing the Old Law’s binding restrictions.
I am Sorry I struggle with forgiveness of others.
Thank You for reminding me of this simple equation.
Please Help Me forgive others as I wish you to forgive me.
