Watch Out!

God’s Word: Acts 6:1-15

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

When the message of salvation through Jesus is being spread and believers are increasing in numbers—watch out! lying When the number of believers is increasing, so also is the activity of the evil one.  In this passage the naysayers could not bear it that scores of people were listening to the message of salvation.  Jealousy overtook them.  They tried to argue Stephen down but were no match for his wisdom and spirit when he spoke.  “A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.”  They began an out-and-out campaign of lies—bribing some to lie about what Stephen was preaching.

Once a lie gets a foothold—it is hard to stop its influence.  You see the results of this in the world today.  Political campaigns are often built on lies.  They lie about themselves and they lie about others.  And then those listening begin to take up sides and choose to believe whomever they choose to believe.  And then the battle is on–all because lies are carried here and there and grow in magnitude.  Now the ability to pass on lies has increased dramatically through technology.  When a decision is made, based upon lies, the decision often remains even if the accusation proves to be a lie.

That is how the teaching about evolution gained a foothold.  It was an attempt by a man disgruntled at Me to prove I didn’t exist.  The seed was sown in the heart of this man and has grown like wildfire.  These people spend untold billions annually, trying to prove I don’t exist.  Their most famous strongholds have been based on lies. Even when those strongholds are proved false—they refuse to believe in Me.  To believe a lie and pass it on is to become a liar.  Watch out!

God’s Question: Will you commit yourself to tell the truth?

God’s Promise: There is nothing as sweet as a clear conscience.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Christ’s example of truthfulness.

I am Sorry I have listened to and passed on lies.

Thank You for Your forgiveness when I fail You.

Please Help me avoid passing on false information.
