Silence that Speaks

God’s Word: Luke 23:1-25

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

When it comes to saving your neck you are eager to reply to accusations. trafficingI’ve heard many of you go on and on justifying yourself to prove your innocence.  You wonder why Jesus didn’t speak up for Himself before Pilate or Herod.  The accusations were flying fast and furious—and they were all twisted versions of what really happened.  Perhaps his followers would speak up for Him!  No, they had all scattered.  Jesus was on His own.  This man who could walk on water and tell the storm to be still kept silent when it came to defending Himself.  Don’t you wonder how He could do this?

His silence spoke louder than any words He could have uttered.  That silence said “I am the Lamb of God that willingly gives Myself as a sacrifice for the redemption of mankind.”  Yes, He could have saved Himself from a certain painful torture and death—but He kept silent.  In His silence He was speaking to you, dear one, loud and clear.  Echoing in His silence was your value.  You are worth His suffering. His love knows no limits when it comes to providing your redemption.

Have you spoken up, saying too much, when you should have remained silent?  Jesus did not speak up to justify Himself.  Do you?  Whose best interest do you have in mind when you speak up?  Jesus had your best interest in mind.  Ask Me and I will give you the wisdom to know when to speak up and when to remain silent.  Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.  Don’t stand idly by while babies are killed because they are inconvenient.  Let your voice be heard on behalf of the innocent.  Let your heart be broken over those things that break My heart—and speak up for My cause of love.

God’s Question: What are you doing to protect the innocent?

God’s Promise: I empower the willing to speak up for Me.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Jesus’ willingness to remain silent for me.

I am Sorry I am too often silent when I should speak out.

Thank You for this reminder to speak up for Your cause.

Please help me be Your faithful ambassador of love and peace.
