What’s in Your Garage?

God’s Word: Luke 12:13-21

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Protect yourself against the least bit of greed!  ClutterOnce it gets a foothold in a life—there is no stopping.  You are in the driver’s seat!  You make the decisions about your needs and your wants.  Many are blinded by confusing the lines between wants and needs.  Having your needs provided is not enough.  Once you cross over the line between needs and wants—there is no stopping.  You never have enough to satisfy your wants.  There is always something more to lure you into spending and going into debt.

Let’s peek into your home, your garage, your barn, or your storage shed and see the result of wants gone awry.  What are you holding onto that could be a blessing to another person in need?  In this passage in a story about a rich man who instead of sharing, tore down his barns and build larger ones—to store up more for himself.  Goodness people.  What if Jesus would have only had Himself in mind?  He would never have sacrificed Himself on your behalf.  Hello!  Do you get it?  Life is not all about “self” but “others.”

What is in your garage tells a lot about you.    A quick look around and one can tell if you are overtaken by greed or are living frugally.  Those two cannot co-exist.  While a farmer might build a larger barn, a greedy person may build a bigger house, bigger garage, rent a bigger storage shed, all to store up pleasure for self.  My challenge to you is to share the pleasure with others.  Are you planning to use the bigger house, garage or shed to be a blessing to others?  If so, then go for it.  Give it your all but be careful to not hoard your blessings for yourself.  I bless you so you can bless others.

God’s Question: Will you share open-handed with those in need?

God’s Promise: When you bless another I will bless you even more.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for this reminder to live to be a blessing to others.

I am Sorry I forget this way too often.

Thank You for giving me another change to bless others.

Please help me go out of my way to be your ambassador.
