Avoid the Path to Poverty

God’s Word: Luke 8:16-25

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Generosity is contagious—it begets generosity in all it touches.  21 povertyBut stinginess impoverishes.  If you want to live in the poor-house, stockpile all you can get and save it for yourself.  To avoid the poor house—be generous with your possessions, your time, and your love.  There is a big difference between being “thrifty” and being “stingy.”  Thrifty people are careful to not waste money on foolishness.  Stingy people use all their money on their own foolish pleasures—ignoring the needs around them.

My blessings on your life are given so you can bless  others in need.  I give to you so you can give to others—not stockpile for your own pleasure.  The more you give, the more I bless you, so that you can give even more.  This is one of My spiritual principles that cannot be understood unless it is experienced.  When you give only out of your excess you will not experience My abundant blessings.  It is in the denying of self and giving to another that you understand and receive My blessing on your life.

Therefore, let your light shine through your good deeds, so others can see My love through you.  When you shine—I shine.  When you forgive others—I forgive you.  When you are generous with others—I am generous with you.  When you are stingy with others—I must be stingy with you.  Can others benefit from what you have, know or do? Abundant blessings flow into your life as you share freely with others.

God’s Question: Will you choose generosity instead of poverty?

God’s Promise: As you sow—so shall you reap!

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for the generosity principle to bless our lives.

I am Sorry I too often hoard my blessings.

Thank You for reminding me of how to avoid poverty.

Please help me live a life of surrender through generosity.
