Face Time with Jesus

God’s Word: Luke 7:36-50

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

If you want to really know a person—invite them over for dinner.   WomanWashingJesusFeetJesus was invited to a Pharisees home for a meal.  Perhaps the fellow wanted Jesus all to himself for some focused face time.  He didn’t get what he expected but he did come away with some deeper understanding.  Jesus uses every moment of face time to teach the real meaning of life.  I’ve provided face time with Jesus for you, simply by opening the Bible—and there you will meet Jesus face to face.  You too will come away, every time, with new understandings.

In today’s passage face time with Jesus was interrupted by the town harlot.  She knelt at Jesus’ feet, weeping, pouring an expensive perfume n them, and then wiping them with her hair.  The Pharisee wanted her thrown out but Jesus taught him a life lesson.  He explained that the person who is forgiven the most—loves the most.  This woman’s sorrow for her wayward life was deep and genuine.  The deeper the regret the greater the joy of forgiveness.  She knew what life was like without forgiveness and she was ready to begin a new life—forgiven.

Everyone needs forgiveness.  Everyone longs to be forgiven and wipe their slate clean.  But they aren’t always so eager to forgive others.  They want for themselves what they aren’t willing to give to others.  By accepting My forgiveness you are entering into a contract with me—a contract of forgiving others as I forgive you.  Face time with the Bible opens doors of understanding. Face time with the Bible is the same thing as face time with Jesus—with Me.  The result is turning to face time with others and reflecting My love, compassion and forgiveness.  Give as you were given—abundantly.

God’s Question: Who needs your forgiveness today?

God’s Promise: Face time with Jesus changes your outlook.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for the blessing of Your Word of understanding.

I am Sorry I don’t put Your Word into practice more.

Thank You for Your gentle reminders to be about Your business.

Please help me love You through loving others.
