What were you sent to do?

God’s Word: Luke 4:38-44

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Jesus knew what He was sent to do and daily He kept to the task. 11 giftsTeaching Kingdom principles was his focus. Those principles are heavily laced with love and compassion and He lived them out.  As he taught, he was continually reaching out to those in need of physical healing. Just as today, many came just for what they could benefit—not really caring about the message.  The crowds clung to Him so that He could not go on.  His response was that there were many others villages where He must go to in order to tell the message of God’s Kingdom.  He knew, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that physical healing lasted only through this life, but the Words of Life were eternal.

What about you!  You have many choices about how to spend your time and energy.  There are many good things you can devote yourself to doing.  Are you a doctor?  Heal the sick.  Are you a carpenter?  Build in quality.  Are you a salesman?  Sell in honesty.  Whatever your hand finds to do, give your best efforts, knowing that as you serve another human being—you are in essence, serving Me.  I accept what you do for others personally.  When you give someone a good deal—I am honored.  When you cheat someone—I am hurt.

You cannot separate the physical dealings from the spiritual.  When you do harm in the physical area, you damage the spiritual.  When you help in the physical you encourage the spiritual.  While there are many good things you can devote your life too—do not neglect the spiritual—seeking after My Word and a growing relationship with Me.  Therein lays your strength.  I did not give you skills and abilities to build your own personal kingdom on earth.  I gave for you to share with others—both of your wealth and My message of salvation.  Health and happiness in this life is temporal.  Only My teachings are eternal.  As I sent Jesus to earth to share My message I also am sending you.  Your world needs your skills and abilities yes, but My Word teaches you how to share My message using your unique abilities to count for eternity.

God’s Question: Will you use your strengths to build My Kingdom?

God’s Promise: I replenish your strength as you give it to another.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for the amazing way Your Word speaks to each heart.

I am Sorry I don’t use more strength in sharing Your Word.

Thank You for guiding me onto Your path for my life.

Please help me focus on the eternal, not the physical.
