Six Hours of Agony–Why?

God’s Word: Mark 15: 21-39

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

A test of the depth of one’s love is what they will endure for you. Jesus on crossJesus, knowing the agony of the cross, refused the painkiller offered.  He was fully present and in agonizing pain those six hours he hung on the cross until he died. At any moment He could have called 10,000 angels to rescue Him, but He endured every moment as an expression of His love for mankind.

Why did He have to die?  Adam and Eve had to leave My perfect garden because sin cannot exist in My presence.  The one who sins must die.  Jesus took your place in death, so that you might live forever in My heaven.  The perfect sacrifice purchased your salvation from sin.  Through His sacrifice you are justified—just as if you’d never sinned.  This justification is freely offered to all—but I do not force it upon anyone.  Whosoever will may come!

How does one receive this justification?  My Word holds the answer.  It is pretty simple really.  Believe that Jesus was sent from heaven to be your perfect sacrifice and purchase your salvation.  Nothing happens apart from your total belief.  Belief is demonstrated through obedience.  To show your belief you follow in His steps of baptism—which involve immersion in water. (The word Baptism means immersion) In this simple act your sins are “washed” away and in their place you receive My forgiveness and My indwelling Spirit.  (Acts 2:38) From that point on, as you interact with My Word, I will bless and guide you into a joy unspeakable and full of glory.  The words and deeds of your life are an expression of the depth of your love and belief.

God’s Question: Jesus died for you, now will you live for Him?

God’s Promise: Complete forgiveness is My gift to you.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for the pain Jesus endured on my behalf.

I am Sorry that for our sin Jesus had to endure that great pain.

Thank You for Your great love that reached out to even me.

Please help me reach out to all others with Your love.
