God’s Word: Mark 14:66-72
God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)
I know your future. Your free choice determines your path in life but I have foreknowledge of what path you will choose. Peter had told Jesus “Even if everyone else is ashamed of you when things fall to pieces, I won’t be!” Stating your intention is one thing—carrying it out is another. In this passage Jesus knew the path Peter would choose and warned him about it. But Peter was so busy worrying about himself that he ignored the signs. Jesus told Peter before the rooster crowed three times, he would deny he knew Jesus three times.
The night Jesus was “taken into custody” his disciples cut and ran. Even Peter, who claimed he would never deny Jesus, ran, but then came back and hung around the courtyard, close to where Jesus was being held. There were several other people milling around also and had built a fire to keep warm. Three different times someone accused him of being with Jesus. Three different times he flatly denied it, even swearing saying that he had never laid eyes on Jesus. And then the rooster crowed and he collapsed in tears.
Have you made a commitment to faith in Jesus—then turned your back? Have you caved to the allure of the world and rejected the clear Biblical teachings? Even one of those closest to Jesus caved. Caving is not the unforgivable sin—but refusing to acknowledge and turn back to Christ is. Peter collapsed in tears. Then he because the great preacher to turn many souls to Christ. What does your future hold? I already know but await your free choice which determines your final destiny. Don’t wait until the final rooster crows—it may be too late.
God’s Question: Can I count on you?
God’s Promise: You can count on me!
