What’s Your Motive?

God’s Word: Mark 12:28-34

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

“Of all the things God asks us to do, what is most important”—Jesus was asked by a religious scholar.  Love one anotherHis answer was “Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.  And here is the second: Love others as well as you love yourself.”  When it comes to passion I find people passionate about so many things that are mostly all about having a good time.  Many have pursued intelligence until they have crowded Me right out of their lives.  And prayer—why so many pray only when faced with insurmountable trouble.  And energy—it is used to pursue the good life for self.

Apart from loving Me as this passage says—there is no loving of one another.  By cutting off the source of love from your life the love you share with others is superficial and self-seeking.  The one who loves Me with all their passion, prayer, intelligence and energy will find that the natural result is a passion to love others by meeting their needs.  Love begets love.  By loving Me as Jesus said in this passage, you are connecting yourself to My flow of loving energy.  The result is a passion to reach out to others.

You can do all sorts of good things in this life but without love, your motive is always self-serving.  Instead, reaching out to Me and experiencing my loving passion, prayer, intelligence and energy will empower you to love in ways you had not thought possible.  A whole new world of loving deeds awaits you.  You will live life on a level you were unaware even existed.  When you unite your heart with Mine, power is released as you become My ambassador to your world.

God’s Question: What is the source of love in your life?

God’s Promise: I am your strength and shield, a very present help in times of trouble.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Your amazing love You so willingly share.

I am Sorry I too often behave out of selfish motives.

Thank You for loving me enough to draw me to You.

Please help me be Your ambassador of love to all others.
