Release for the Hostages

God’s Word: Mark 10:35-45

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Are you being held hostage? freedom Many are held hostage by the lure of power, money and fame.  There is never enough!  Every choice in their lives is dictated by how it will help them in the pursuit of more power, more money, and more fame.  It is a deadly trap that does not let go and has so many pitfalls along the way. Scores have been derailed from the things in life that really matter by that which holds them hostage.  Love, honesty, purity, patience, kindness and all such are trampled underfoot when a person is held hostage in this way.

Some come to realize the futility of this pursuit but others hold on until their life comes crashing down.  Families are destroyed, relationships severed, health ruined, all for the want of more, more, more.  The love of money is the root of all evil.  That is why My Word says to be CONTENT with what you have.  Discontentment breeds all kinds of evil pursuits.  Instead of pining for what you don’t have, count your blessings.  And don’t just count them but honor them and nurture them.  Don’t take your spouse for granted—instead honor them as you did in the beginning.

The antidote for these hostages is contentment.  Take the focus off what you don’t have and put it on what you do have.  Take the focus off pleasing yourself and put it on how you can please others—just bless their socks off.  Jesus set the example for you.  He, who had all power and could do anything He chose, chose to serve mankind. He demonstrated this by washing the feet of His followers.  Christ came to serve, not to be served.  That, my friends, is the path to greatness in both the sight of mankind and in My sight.

God’s Question: Who have you blessed the socks off recently?

God’s Promise:  Blessing others is the true path to greatness.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Jesus’ example of serving others.

I am Sorry I am too often more concerned with myself.

Thank You for Your Word that keeps me on task.

Please help me live what I believe!
