What Really Pollutes?

God’s Word: Mark 7:1-23

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

I’m glad that many are concerned about stopping pollution. heart pollution I appreciate that they are showing care for the earth.  It is foolish to waste resources—and time.  But the worst kind of pollution is that which come from the heart and out of the mouth.  The list of those kinds of pollutants is endless.  Here are just a few–obscenities, lusts, thefts, murders, adulteries, greed, depravity, deceptive dealings, carousing, mean looks, slander, arrogance, foolishness—all these are vomit from the heart.  There is the source of real pollution.

On one hand you are so concerned about preserving the earth and on the other—you continue, even encourage pollution of the heart. You call it “freedom to do your own thing.”  That is pollution of the meaning of freedom.  You are not free to make choices than harm others—spreading your vomit all over them.  Christ died to give you freedom from sin—but do you use your freedom to sin?  To use your freedom to sin you are cancelling the freedom Christ died to provide.

Mankind spends billions to rid the world of this pollution of the heart through a system of courts.  But in the spending they have generated even more pollution—by the love of money that generates dishonesty in high places.  You cannot get rid of pollution by creating more pollution.  To rid yourselves of this pollution of the heart you need a new heart.  Jesus died to purify your old heart of sin and give you a new pure heart to pursue the good things of life such as kindness, love, peace, joy, etc.  Accept Christ and step away from heart pollution.

God’s Question: Have you examined the motives of your heart lately?

God’s Promise: I will help you turn your heart away from sin.

My Prayer to God:

I Praise You for Your concern for the condition of our hearts.

I am Sorry I allow selfishness to allow my heart to pollute.

Thank You for Jesus’ sacrifice to free us from this pollution.

Please help me follow Christ’s example of giving to others.
