Who Needs a Doctor?

God’s Word: Mark 2:13-17

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Where ever Jesus went He drew a crowd.  Heart shape in doctor's handsHe went for a walk along a lake and the crowds gathered.  He used each opportunity to teach the people.  No foolish jesting or small talk—it all had meaning.  Because He knew the hearts of people He could address the deep needs of their hearts—that is why they were so drawn to Him.  And not only when he walked did he gather a crowd but also when He ate.  Many times the characters who gathered around Him were considered disreputable by the religious leaders.  They thought Jesus should have sent them packing.

“Who needs a doctor, the healthy or the sick?” Jesus shot back at those who scorned Him.  Jesus reminded them that His purpose in coming to this world was for the sin-sick, not for the spiritually fit.  In this case, those who considered themselves spiritually fit were badly mistaken.  You might do well to examine your own spiritual temperature.  You who consider yourselves spiritually healthy are often in dire need.  As long as you are alive in the flesh you will suffer the sin-sickness syndrome.

Food and water sustains your daily health. My Word sustains your daily spiritual health.  One meal a week doesn’t work, nor does listening to a sermon once a week.   Trials and temptations arrive on your door-step daily.  Unless you have prepared with the strength I give from My Word—you will cave to your lower nature.  The more you cave the less you desire My Word.  You are on a downward spiral.

Keep the doctor away with an apple a day,                                                          Read My Word each day to keep Satan at bay!

God’s Question: Does your daily diet include feeding from My Word?

God’s Promise: Draw near to Me and I will draw near to you.
