Roadblocks to God

God’s Word: Matthew 23:13-39

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Are you leading others along my path or putting up a roadblock? road closed My Word invites whosoever will to come unto Me.  Sad to say but there are many—so called Church leaders—that do more harm than good.  They set themselves up as “authorities” on My Word and interpret it foolishly and falsely.   They seek to control people and gain glory for themselves.  They make up large lists of do’s and don’ts and place heavy burdens on people. Their lives and words create huge roadblocks to My Kingdom.

These roadblock people are hopelessly addicted to being the authority on My Word.  They force others to do things they won’t even do.  They say one thing but do another—somehow thinking they are immune from My judgment.  Claiming to have a special connection to Me or special miraculous powers—they are no better than any person they may consider as beneath their dignity.  In My kingdom all are equal but all have different jobs to do because all have different abilities.  I gave each one abilities to use to serve others.

The problem begins when people begin thinking their abilities are more valuable than another’s.   The world needs the unique abilities of every person.  Working together you create a dynamic force for good—or for evil.  What is really disheartening is when some take My Word and use it as a cover-up for their selfish and evil deeds—seeking glory for self.  The damage they do can last for generations.  I will hold them accountable for those they roadblock from My kingdom.

God’s Question: Do your words and deeds roadblock My path or lead the way to My kingdom?

God’s Promise: Pride and self-glory have no place in My kingdom.

My Prayer to God

I praise You for those who opened the way for me into Your kingdom.

I am sorry if I have ever allowed pride to hurt my witness for You.

Thank You for reminding me to the need for humility.

Help me to tear down roadblocks and lead the way to You.
