Avoid the Trap!

God’s Word: Matthew 22:41-46

God’s Message to me: (My interpretation of what God is saying in these verses)

Those who tried to stump Jesus with questions found out that it couldn’t be done. head in sand You people have a saying “A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.”  Avoid the trap of thinking you have all the answers.  Those who questioned Jesus weren’t seeking honest answers—therefore would not accept the honest answers they were given.  Their eyes were blinded with the veil of “self-glory.”  They disregarded any answers that didn’t honor themselves.

It is very sad that some are so entrapped in self-glory that they cannot even consider the possibility that they are wrong. Because of their desire for glory they are unable to see life from any other vantage point.  They cannot accept clear logic and truth.  In today’s verses these blinded people, instead of learning from Jesus, turned and decided to give up trying to trap Him in questions.  It couldn’t be done.  Though Jesus clearly spoke the truth—they ignored it.

Those who respond to Jesus call of repentance and forgiveness know the importance of humility.  Humility says “I don’t have all the answers.”  Self-glory says “I have all the answers—I need no others.”  Humility listens and always seeks to sift the words they hear and accept the truths coming from My Word, the Bible.  The humble seek honest answers and give honest answers—thereby avoiding the trap of self-glory.  Read and heed My Word with a heart of humility.

God’s Question: Are you so sure you have the “full-truth” that you discount any and all opposing beliefs?

God’s Promise: As you read My Word—I am there with you, guiding you and speaking directly to your Heart!
