PRO-Active at Making Peace

12 Feb

God’s Word:  Matthew 5: 25, 26 Jesus said “Or say you’re out on the street and an old enemy accosts you.  Don’t lose a minute.  Make the first move; make things right with him.  After all, if you leave the first move to him, knowing his track record, you’re likely to end up in court, maybe even jail.  If that happens, you won’t get out without a stiff fine.”

Jesus’ Message to Me: (My interpretation of what Jesus is saying in these verses)

My life was an example of how enemies arise often through no fault of your own.  Even speaking the truth in love can create enemies because many don’t want to hear the truth.  They are comfortable in their patterns of living for self-pleasure.  You walk a fine line, as My disciple.  The key to speaking My truths to a person is to be a friend first.  Another key is to not spout truths in a holier than thou attitude.

Love is to be the banner than flies from your heart and out your lips. love flag Stifle foolish emotions that make enemies.  You cannot speak the truth in a foolish way and expect others to accept it as truth. Begin living out My truth and let others see Me—living in you.

Do everything in your power to be pro-active at making peace with those who are at odds with you.  Be the first to accept the blame—even though you are blameless.  You evidently did something that offended—perhaps in how you treated or spoke or even looked at the person.  However, if you spoke the truth, in love, accept the accusation and love them anyway.  Perhaps you spoke the truth in love, but at the wrong time.  Be wise in the words you speak and the timing of sharing those words of truth.  Whatever happens—never stop loving others—no matter how they treat you—or you lower your standards to theirs instead of Mine.

Jesus’ Question for Me: Are you willing to be pro-active in making amends with those offended by your words or deeds?

Jesus’ Promise to Me: I lived My life pro-actively speaking the truth in love.

My Prayer to God:

I praise You for this reminder to let Your love flow through my life.

I am sorry for not pro-actively loving others on Your behalf.

Thank You for your love that just never quits.

Help me to love others unselfishly, putting their needs above my own, just like You did.
