Boomerangs

God’s Word:  Proverbs 26: 16-28

God’s Message to Me:

Be careful of what you give to others, knowing it will return to you at some point.  Kindness begets kindness—spite begets spite—evil begets evil.  As a forest fire begins from a tiny spark, the words that you say can build or burn.  Build friendships with your words of encouragement.  When you burn with your words—you burn yourself too.

How you treat another with no regards to what you receive for yourself—is the real test of kindness.   The clerk with a long line of customers, the waitress who forgot your drink, the mom with the screaming baby—all need a word of kindness.  Put yourself in their place and ask how you would like to be treated.  Kind words—when you feel like giving a burning word—bless you as much as the receiver.

What you give to others is an invitation to Me to give the same to you.  Forgive and you will be forgiven.  Speak out from a forgiving heart and make the world around you a better place.  To give burning words may make you feel better at the moment, but those words smolder in your soul and continue to burn away the very fibers of love and kindness.  What you give or say to others boomerangs back to you.

God’s Question to Me:  Will you make a special effort today to treat others as you wish Me to treat you?

God’s Promise to Me:   As you sow, so shall you reap!

My Song to God:    So Send I You   by Margaret Clarkson  Based on John 20:21

So send I you to labor unrewarded,
To serve unpaid, unloved, unsought, unknown,
To bear rebuke, to suffer scorn and scoffing,
So send I you to toil for Me alone.
As the Father hath sent Me, So send I you.

So send I you to bind the bruised and broken,
O’er wand’ring souls to work, to weep, to wake,
To bear the burdens of a world aweary-
So send I you to suffer for My sake.
As the Father hath sent Me, So send I you.

So send I you – to loneliness and longing,
With heart a-hungering for the loved and known;
Forsaking home and kindred, friend and dear one,
So send I you – to know My love alone.
As the Father hath sent Me, So send I you.

So send I you – to leave your life’s ambitions,
To die to dear desire, self-will resign,
To labor long and love where men revile you,
So send I you – to lose your life in Mine.
As the Father hath sent Me, So send I you.

So send I you to hearts made hard by hatred,
To eyes made blind because they will not see,
To spend, tho’ it be blood, to spend and spare not-
So send I you to taste of Calvary.
As the Father hath sent Me, So send I you.
