Mud and Marble

God’s Word:  Proverbs 26:1-15

God’s Message to Me:

Putting a fool in a place of honor is like setting a mud brick on a marble column.  A fool is a person lacking judgment or common sense. Mud and marble don’t belong together just like honor and a fool don’t belong together.  You should no more give honor to fools than pray for snow in summer and rain during harvest.

Be cautions when hiring someone to do an important job.  Make a careful examination of their background to see that they are not prone to foolishness.  To hire a foolish person is like shooting yourself in the foot.  As a dog eats its own vomit—so fools recycle silliness.  You are only asking for trouble when you send a message by a fool.

Therefore, I implore you to take extra precautions when dealing with a fool.   To expect a fool to act with wisdom is as foolish as putting a scalpel in the hands of a drunk.  And be extra careful when you find someone who thinks they are so smart—he too is foolish and to be avoided.  While this challenge is to avoid foolish people it is also a challenge to examine yourself and be sure you aren’t living foolishly.

God’s Question to Me:  Does our track record of life place you in the category of the wise who receive honor or the fool who recycles silliness?

God’s Promise to Me:   Foolishness wastes time and resources.  There is a big difference between enjoying life and living it foolishly.

My Song toGod:       The Wise and Foolish Man       by Ann Omley  1948

The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
But the house on the Rock stood firm.

The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
And the house on the sand fell flat.

So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
And the blessings will come down.
The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
So build your life on the Lord.
