Sweet as Honey

God’s Word:   Proverbs 16:21-33

God’s Message to Me:

Are you wishing that others would listen to what you have to say?  Then sprinkle your words with honey!  You do this by thinking before you speak and tempering your words with gracious wisdom.  The one who follows this advice will find their reputation soaring and their advice sought after.

I am not talking about patronizing others.  I mean carefully weigh and measure the words that flow from your mouth.  Filter them through your heart and mind before letting them loose.  For once they are released, there is no taking them back.  Don’t use your words to sweeten up others in order to get what you want.  Be genuine and encouraging in all your dealing with others.

If you will choose this kind of wisdom you will find others will respect you for your insight.  The words you say will refresh others like a spring of fresh, cool water on a hot day.  Your words can revive the soul and give quick energy to the body—as does honey to the body.  However, too much honey will make one sick.  Restrain your words, choose them wisely, not only making them palatable but healing to the hearers.

God’s Question for Me:  Will you sweeten your words with the honey of wisdom and kindness?

God’s Promise to Me: As you sow—so shall you reap!

My Song to God:   Try a Little Kindness

If you see your brother standing by the road
With a heavy load from the seeds he’s sowed
And if you see your sister falling by the way
Just stop and stay you’re going the wrong way

You got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you’ll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets

Don’t walk around the down and out
Lend a helping hand instead of doubt
And the kindness that you show every day
Will help someone along their way

You got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you’ll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets

You got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you’ll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets
