Your Life Path

God’s Word:  Proverbs 6:20-35

God’s Message to Me:

Parents are charged with helping the child get a good start on their life path.  It is no casual thing to be a parent but carries heavy responsibility.  Fathers are charged with giving good advice that will serve as a beacon throughout life.  Mothers charge is to gently provide teaching that will be a light to understanding.

Together, the parents goal is to instill moral discipline into the life of the child.  My charge to the child is to wrap themselves in this advice and teaching from head to foot.  Wrap it around your neck as a scarf. Wherever you walk, they will guide you.  Whenever you rest, they will guard you.  When you wake up they’ll tell you what’s next.

This foundation the parents provide will serve as a hedge of protection around your life.  It will help you make decisions that are wise instead of brainlessly going with your unchecked desires and temptations.  Better to live a life sheltered from the bondages of sin that will seek to entice you.  Woe to the parents who fail to teach and set a good example for their children to start them on their life path with a godly foundation.

God’s Question to Me:  Have you brought your parents honor or shame?  Whatever you have brought to your parents you have also brought to me.

God’s Promise to Me:  To those who were not properly parented, I will parent and guide you along a wise life path.
