God’s Rainbow

3 Apr

God’s Word:  Matthew 7:13-14  Jesus said, “Don’t look for shortcuts to God.  The market is flooded with surefire easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time.  Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do.  The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention.”

Jesus’ Message to Me: (My interpretation of what Jesus is saying to me through these verses)

Often the shortcuts in life turn out to be dead-ends.  Yet many are on the lookout for a shortcut to wealth, happiness, weight loss, health, or intelligence.  They want to save up for a rainy day but don’t want to sacrifice today.  They want to be ecstatically happy but are unable to find the source of true happiness.  They want to lose weight but don’t want to give up their favorite foods.  They want good health but don’t want to exercise or eat properly.  They want intelligence to land the perfect job but neglect the training and discipline needed for that job.

Ignore the shortcuts and stick to the true and narrow path.  That path ends up at the throne of God where all your fondest desires are fulfilled.  You may never receive abundant wealth but God will give contentment with what you have.  Happiness will be yours when you learn that the secret is in giving, not receiving.  Weight loss comes to those willing to eat less and eat healthy.  Health comes to those who are diligent in caring for their bodies.  Intelligence belongs to the wise who take needed steps to acquire wisdom.

Following God’s rainbow leads to His reward for the diligent.  There is a map to find that rainbow—the Bible contains the explicit directions.  God has carefully laid out the path for each person to find their rainbow of promises fulfilled.  The earlier you start on that path–the better your life will be. You may find that what you thought you wanted looks very different from God’s tomorrow for you.  Rest assured “Father God” knows best! When you invest your life in following God’s Word, His reward will far surpass anything you could ever imagine.

Jesus’ Question for Me: Will you continue following your elusive rainbow of dreams or will you turn your path of life toward God’s Word and realize his rainbow is better than you could ever imagine?

Jesus’ Promise to Me: This earthly life holds no guarantees but God’s tomorrow promises joy unspeakable and full of glory for all who follow God’s rainbow—found in His Word.

My Song to Jesus:  God’s Tomorrow  by A.H. Ackley  1928

God’s tomorrow is a day of gladness
And its joys shall never fade
No more weeping, no more sense of sadness
No more foes to make afraid

Refrain:

God’s tomorrow, God’s tomorrow
Ev’ry cloud will pass away
At the dawning of that day
God’s tomorrow, no more sorrow
For I know that God’s tomorrow
Will be better than today!

God’s tomorrows is a day of greeting
We shall see the Savior’s face
And our longing hearts await the meeting
In that holy, happy place

Refrain:

God’s tomorrow, God’s tomorrow
Ev’ry cloud will pass away
At the dawning of that day
God’s tomorrow, no more sorrow
For I know that God’s tomorrow
Will be better than today!

God’s tomorrow is a day of glory
We shall wear the crown of life
Sing thro’ countless years love’s old, old story
Free for ever form all strife

Refrain:

God’s tomorrow, God’s tomorrow
Ev’ry cloud will pass away
At the dawning of that day
God’s tomorrow, no more sorrow
For I know that God’s tomorrow
Will be better than today!
