God’s Word:  Matthew 6:19-21    Jesus said, “Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars.  Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars.  It’s obvious, isn’t it?  The place where your treasure is–is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.”

Jesus’ Message to Me: (My interpretation of what Jesus is saying to me through these verses)

Do you have some possessions or do your possessions have you? There is a big difference.  There is a fine line between being frugal and hoarding.  Being frugal means holding onto your possessions because you think you may have a need for them later.  Hoarding means gathering possessions, stashing them away, never using them, just holding tight, and believing that the one who dies with the most possessions somehow wins.

It isn’t the possessions, or lack thereof, that concerns Me.  It is the attitude of the heart toward the possessions.  What is it that motivates you to accumulate your possessions?  That is the question you need to ask yourself.  I already know the answer.  How you use your possessions is the revealing thing.  Possessions are temporary.  If I have blessed you with many possessions you can believe that I expect you to share that blessing with others.

As you ‘give’ unto the least of these—you have ‘given’ unto Me.  Investing in the lives of others is the way to truly stockpile treasure in heaven.  You can’t take the possessions here with you but you send them on ahead when you share them with others.  Treasure people—not possessions!  You are My treasured possessions—you have My heart.  Go thou—and do likewise!

Jesus’ Question for Me: Who or what has your heart?

Jesus’ Promise to Me:  The bank of heaven pays top dividends and has lasting benefits.

My Song to Jesus:  When We All Get to Heaven   Eliza E Hewitt  1898

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
Sing His mercy and His grace;
In the mansions bright and blessed
He’ll prepare for us a place.

When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!

While we walk the pilgrim pathway,
Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when trav’ling days are over,
Not a shadow, not a sigh.

Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.

Onward to the prize before us!
Soon His beauty we’ll behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open;
We shall tread the streets of gold.
