For Adults Only

28 Feb

God’s Word:  Matthew 5:27, 28: Jesus said, “You know the next commandment pretty well, too: ‘Don’t go to bed with another’s spouse.’  But don’t think you’ve preserved your virtue simply by staying out of bed.  Your heart can be corrupted to lust even quicker than you body.  Those leering looks you think nobody notices—they also corrupt.”

Jesus’ Message to Me: (My interpretation of what Jesus is saying to me through these verses)

My best advice for you concerning this matter is “don’t even go there.”  The world you are living in has strayed so very far from God’s righteousness.  Sin and corruption have become games that are played.  Lust is openly displayed on many movies and your television. Lest you need reminded, the meaning of lust is intense or unbridled sexual desire. The actions and clothing of those you interact with daily often have the purposeful intent of causing lust.  An individual seems to think they have scored points if they can arouse lust in another—and I am not talking about their spouse.  All those “Adult only stores” are fed by unbridled lust.

This grieves me that the world does this but what gives me deep grieving pain is that I find this even happening with those who claim to be My followers.  Your own statistics tell you that Christians are as bad as anyone else in watching X rated movies.  Then there is the constant temptation from the terrible evil available on the internet.  Like Satan sought how and when to tempt Eve, he is doing that to My people through all this media.  And you are falling for it.

I’m so grieved that my true followers can’t even go to “church” to escape this influence of the world.  It has crept right into the church when women are displaying their bodies openly and acting as though they have a right to show themselves off.  A woman who dresses in such a manner that she causes a man to lust is every bit as guilty as he is.  Once lust is allowed a home in your heart, it grows until it crowds out all reason and eventually becomes consumed with lust.  “As a man thinks in his heart—so is he.”  Unbridled lust is as bad as the actual act.

Jesus’ Question for Me: How about your heart?  Are you protecting it from lustful temptations?

Jesus’ Promise to Me:  I am with you always—that means I am a silent observer of those lustful thoughts you allow to enter your heart.

My Song to Jesus:  How about your heart?

Chorus:
How about your heart, is it right with God?
That’s the thing that counts today
Is it black by sin, is it pure within?
Could you ask Christ in to stay?

People often see you as you are outside
Jesus really knows you for He sees inside

How about your heart, is it right with God?
That’s the thing that counts today

People often see you as you are outside
Jesus really knows you for He sees inside

How about your heart, is it right with God?
That’s the thing that counts today
