God’s Word: II Thessalonians 2

God’s Message to Me: (My interpretation of what God is saying to me through these verses)

Hold it!  When you get sucked into this person or that person claiming to know when Christ will return to bring you back home—it just shows that you are ignorant of My Word.  I have clearly said NO ONE knows when that time will be—except Me.  I have waited so long, giving you more opportunities to share my Good News of Salvation with more people.  As I have clearly said in this chapter, times will get very tough before Christ returns.  People will be seeking pleasure and not care what kind of evil it takes to give them that temporary pleasure.  They will refuse to believe the truth about Christ that can save them.

In light of all this—how ought you to live?  Take a firm stand, feet on the ground and head high.  Keep a tight grip on the truths of My Word.  I will reach out to you in love and surprise you with gifts of unending help and confidence, put a fresh heart in you, invigorate your word, enliven your speech.

Those of you who keep a tight grip on the truths of My Word will reach out to others in love and surprise them with gifts of unending help and confidence, giving them a fresh heart, invigorating them and encouraging them through your comforting words.  As I surprise you with gifts—you are to surprise others with gifts.  He who gives much receives even more.

God’s Question for Me: Who will you surprise today with your gifts of help and encouragement?

God’s Promise to Me: You cannot out give Me!

My Prayer to God:

Adoration:  The hope you give me amidst the coming evil comforts and encourages me so much.  I know that whatever comes—You will be my constant companion.  It stirs in me the desire to reach out to others with this same hope and encouragement.

Confession:  It is so easy to get swept up in the cares of this life and live as though this life is all there is to our existence.  I’m sorry for blurring these lines between living life for self-pleasure and living life to serve You.

Thanksgiving:  Thank you for the undying hope I have in You and Your promises.  Whatever tomorrow brings I know you will be with me and helping me each step of the way.  There is nothing that can separate me from Your love.  Thank you dear God.

Supplication:  Help me to live my life watching for every opportunity possible to surprise others with gifts of hope and encouragement to understand You and Your precious Word more fully.

My Song to God:  Christ Returneth by James McGranahan

It may be at morn, when the day is awaking
When sunlight through darkness and shadow is breaking
That Jesus will come in the fullness of glory
To receive from the world “His own.”

O Lord Jesus, how long, how long
Ere we shout the glad song
Christ returneth! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Amen. Hallelujah! Amen

It may be at midday, it may be at twilight
It may be, perchance, that the blackness of midnight
Will burst into light in the blaze of His glory
When Jesus receives “His own.”

While its hosts cry Hosanna, from heaven descending
With glorified saints and the angels attending
With grace on His brow, like a halo of glory
Will Jesus receive “His own.”

Oh, joy! oh, delight! should we go without dying
No sickness, no sadness, no dread and no crying
Caught up through the clouds with our Lord into glory
When Jesus receives “His own.”
