New Wardrobe

God’s Word: Colossians 3

God’s Message to Me: (My interpretation of what God is saying to me through these verses)

Most people today have heard the song “Just as I Am.”  That is exactly how I accept you with loving arms—just as you are.  My first gift to you is a new perspective—to see the world around you as Christ sees it.  In your “just as you were” state your perspective was self.  Looking at the world through Christ’s eyes of love will open up to you a whole new perspective and help you see clearly how you fit in to the tapestry of life I am weaving.  I have opportunities all planned out for you—just look through Christ’s perspective and you will be thrilled to see what is in store for you with your talents and gifts.

This new perspective includes a whole new wardrobe I have picked out just for you and includes my personal label.  Clean out the old fashions you used to wear proudly, lying, sexual promiscuity, impurity, and lust, doing what you feel like whenever you feel like it and grabbing whatever attracts your fancy.  Instead my wardrobe for you includes compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline, even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense, and don’t forget the all-purpose garment you need to never be without—love.

You will find that wearing my new wardrobe gives you the same perspective as Christ has.  You will have peace as you keep in tune with one another—instead of being the lone ranger.  This new wardrobe will cultivate thankfulness.  My Word will have the run of your house and I will hear you singing your hearts out to Me.  Yes, I accept you “Just as you are” but gift you with a new perspective, the perspective of Christ.  You will be eager to rid yourself of the old fashions you used to proudly wear.  You will be grateful to put on the new wardrobe and step into the joy and peace that comes with this new life.  Welcome to My family!

God’s Question for Me: What will you wear today?

God’s Promise to Me: When Christ returns He will gather unto Himself all those wearing the new wardrobe.

My Prayer to God:

Adoration:  You always know just what I need.  I need this reminder every day—that over everything physical garment I put on I want to put on compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline, even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive and to cover it all with love.

Confession:  Too often I fail to put on one or more or all of these garments.  All I think about is what I see in the mirror.

Thanksgiving:  Thank You for Your Word that reminds me of what is really important in this life—interactions with other people.  Your new wardrobe is all about how I relate to others.  Thank you for not giving up on me but always calling me back to the perspective of Christ—others.

Supplication:  Lord help me live from day-to-day, in such a self-forgetful way, that even as I kneel to pray, my prayer will be for others.

My Song to God:

Just as I am, without one plea,

but that thy blood was shed for me,

and that thou bidst me come to thee,

Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, and waiting not

to rid my soul of one dark blot,

to thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,

Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, though tossed about

with many a conflict, many a doubt,

fightings and fears within, without,

Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;

sight, riches, healing of the mind,

yea, all I need in thee to find,

Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, thou wilt receive,

wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;

because thy promise I believe,

Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, thy love unknown

hath broken every barrier down;

now, to be thine, yea thine alone,

Lamb of God, I come, I come.
