God’s Word: Galatians 6

God’s Message to Me:

Live creatively friends!  If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out.  Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed.  Share their burdens.  If you think you are too good for that you are badly deceived.

Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that.  Don’t be impressed with yourself.  Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.

Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God.  What a person plants, he will harvest.  The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds.  All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds!  But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.

Don’t allow yourself to get fatigued doing good.  At the right time you will harvest a good crop if you don’t give up, or quit.  Right now, therefore, every time you get the chance, work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to you in the community of faith.

God’s Question for Me: What can you do today to share the burden of another person?

God’s Promise to Me:  A crop of real life—eternal life—will be harvested by the one who responds in love to the needs of others, on My behalf.

My Prayer to God:

Adoration:  It is so good to be reminded of the things that really matter in this life.  Simply follow Your example and give myself on behalf of others.  What a wonderfully simple way to show you my love.

Confession:  Oh how selfish I am with my time.  I pile so much on my plate that when it comes time to help another I can’t bear to take the time away from my projects.  I am sorry.  Help me to always be available to help another.

Thanksgiving:  Thank you for this simple way that we can express our love to You, by expressing it to another.

Supplication:  Help me to learn to put first in my life those things that count for eternity—others.

My Song to God: Work for the Night is Coming

Author: Anna L. Walker  Composer: Lowell Mason

Work, for the night is coming,
Work thro’ the morning hours;
Work while the dew is sparkling;
Work, ‘mid springing flowers.
Work, when the day grows brighter,
Work in the glowing sun;
Work, for the night is coming,
When man’s work is done.

Work, for the night is coming,
Work thro’ the sunny noon;
Fill brightest hours with labor,
Rest comes sure and soon.
Give ev’ry flying minute
Something to keep in store;
Work, for the night is coming,
When man works no more.

Work, for the night is coming,
Under sunset’s skies;
While their bright tints are glowing,
Work, for daylight flies.
Work till the last beam fadeth,
Fadeth to shine no more;
Work, for the night is coming,
When man’s work is o’er.
