What Matters Most?

God’s Word: Galatians 6

God’s Message to Me: (My interpretation of what God says to me from these verses)

Sift carefully through all the “teachings” that you hear of, telling you this is the way, or that is the way to peace with God and happiness in life.  I have not left you on your own to flounder in a sea of religious confusion.  I have miraculously provided My Word—the Bible.  I orchestrated the writing of it by over 40 different authors and over 1500 years.  Moses wrote the first five books and John wrote the last.  They never met one another.  But the message of My Book is in perfect unity.  The personality of the authors shines through but my guiding hand is evident. The silver thread flowing from beginning to end is My love that reaches out to you and calls you to pass it on.

Christ died that you might be free from the consequences of sin, not free to sin.  He sacrificed His life to purchase your freedom and forgiveness.  You are loved!  The rest is up to you—what matters most is that you express your faith in Him through loving others.  And how are you to love others?  Everything you could know about My Word summed up in a single sentence—LOVE OTHERS AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF.

My counsel to you is this:  live freely, animated and motivated by My Spirit.  Then you won’t feed the compulsion of selfishness.  Christ set the example of selflessness and calls you to do the same.  Selfishness and selflessness can no co-exist.  Selfishness will give you nothing but a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage.  Selflessness is living Christ’s way—following His example.  You will develop affection for others, exuberance for life, and deep serenity.  I created each of you as an original—and provided My Word so you would come to understand what matters most to Me, and discover that is the path to perfect peace with mankind and with Me.

God’s Question for Me: Have you read of my love in the Bible?

God’s Promise to Me: Come unto Me, all you who are tired and heavy laden and I will give you rest for your soul.

My Prayer to God:

Adoration: Your perfect, selfless love so motivates me to love others.  You set the perfect example and filled my heart with such joy.  I bow before you in praise.

Confession:  I fail so often at passing on your selfless love.  Selfishness is so prone to sway my decisions.  I need your abiding presence to set self aside and love others for You.

Thanksgiving:  Thank you for always being there for me—for loving me even when I fail You and live selfishly.

Supplication:  Help me to daily be aware of others that you place in my life and how I can love them on Your behalf.  Help me God to be a blessing to others.

My Song to God: Make Me A Blessing

Out in the highways and byways of life,
many are weary and sad;
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife
making the sorrowing glad.

Refrain:
Make me a blessing,
Make me a blessing,
Out of my life–May Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,
Make me a blessing to someone today.

Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love;
Tell of His pow’r to forgive;
Others will trust Him if only you prove
true ev’ry moment you live.

Refrain:

Give as ’twas given to you in your need;
Love as the Master loved you;
Be to the helpless a helper indeed;
Unto your mission be true.
Refrain
