Just As I Am

God’s Word: John 20

God’s message to me:

The Apostle John got it!  He called himself “the one Jesus loved.”  Would that not make a big difference in your own feeling of self-worth to consider yourself “the one Jesus loves.”  It is true!  You are loved—with all your fears and failures—you are loved.  You cannot “make-up” for your fears and failures to make yourself right with Me.  You only need respond to My love.  Jesus death demonstrated the depth of my love.  He and I are one.  The torment he received I felt.

Death has no power in my kingdom of love.  Jesus demonstrated My power over death when he rose from the dead.  “Oh death, where is thy sting?  Oh death, where is thy victory?” On the earth there is death but as Jesus rose from death to life—so will all those who respond to my love. How have you responded to my love?

And in the meantime—when you feel the sting of the death of loved ones—I provide for you what I provided for Mary.  When she went to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus and found the tomb empty she wept.  I provided angels of mercy to calm her fears and give her hope.  Those same angels will comfort you in your time of weeping over death.  You are loved—just as you are!  I am with you!

God’s Question for me: Will you respond to my love and pass it on to others?

God’s Promise to me: Blessings are in store for those who believe in Jesus without having been an eye witness to the events, but believing because of the testimony of My Word.

My prayer to God:

Adoration:  Just as I am?  Oh how could you love me that way?  Your perfect love moves and motivates me to love others that way.

Confession:  How I fail at this—miserably.  I want others to love me “just as I am” but refuse to give them the same kind of love.

Thanksgiving:  Thank you that you are the God that doesn’t allow the failures of your children to be recorded.  You keep our slate clean.  Help me to extend this same grace to others.

Supplication:  I want to look at all others as though they have clean slates—just as I look at myself.  I will let you deal with their hearts as I extend to them love and forgiveness.  Help me to live out that resolve.  Without You, I can do nothing!

My Song to God:

1.         Just as I am, without one plea,

but that thy blood was shed for me,

and that thou bidst me come to thee,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

2.         Just as I am, and waiting not

to rid my soul of one dark blot,

to thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

3.         Just as I am, though tossed about

with many a conflict, many a doubt,

fightings and fears within, without,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

4.         Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;

sight, riches, healing of the mind,

yea, all I need in thee to find,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

5.         Just as I am, thou wilt receive,

wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;

because thy promise I believe,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

6.         Just as I am, thy love unknown

hath broken every barrier down;

now, to be thine, yea thine alone,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
